solar plant level

In your opinion what would be a good level to stop at when purchasing solar plants?? When should I start to depend on solar satelites instead???

I myself use both together. The usefullness of solar satelites depends on your distance from the sun (i.e. weather your 1,2,3,4 etc... in your constallation)

Don't just relay on satelites as they can get destroyed by enemies. Also use fusion reactors, they provide a lot of energy.

in a way it did. But I was looking for more of a cut off level for solar plants. After a certain lvl they start getting rediculous. I'm not really too keen on buying a lvl 25 solar plant and only being able run one new building off of it. What lvl did you stop at building solar plants

i think solar plants are worth it until around level 27, after that the cost per energy unit becomes so ridiculous it's better to make satellites even if somebody destroys them 10 times

1 level of solar plant can power either a metal+crystal mine at the same level, or a deuterium mine at the same level. If you've got all three mines on the same planet you'll need more energy than can be provided by an equal-level solar plant.

Personally I don't let the solar plant exceed my highest mine. I make up the rest of the energy with sats and fusion. It's reasonable and profitable to have a deuterium mine entirely powered by fusion, but if you can defend the sats you'll make more profit powering it by them instead.

Several things

1. Try not to depend on solar sats until you get to the gravitron tech. they can be destroyed easy and depending on distance from the sun may not be as useful.

2. Solar plants may be expensive, but they provide perminant energy, which is as good as your gonna get. Not to mention you give nothing in exchange (duet or the chance of destruction).

3. In all honesty, I wouldn't stop till around 26 or 27, but that's just me....

well im at level 27 SP now.. tha makes me able to have a 27/25/14 combination. and i got 15sats to make the rest of the remaining needed power.. i do NOT use fusions as i already produce little deut.

im about to make SP to level 30 and then stop there.. even if its very very very expensive its safe pts, it cant be destroyd and it doenst use deut..

I love solar plant, I think is definitely worth until level 28.
Then I go with fusion, until level 15 at maximum. This two should provide all the energy you need for a long time (8075 + 3132 = 11207).
If you need more I would go for solar 29, is affordable from about 300 K points.

Never build satellite unless you turtle, just my opinion.

Personally, I stop at solar 26. Though, to look at this from a costs standpoint, to power a planet of maximum temperature 60 with mines of 32/28/25, one would need 287 sats, costing 574k crystal. Level 27 solar plant costs 1.136.302 crystal, and with it powering the same mines would require 261 sats, a saving of 52k crystal, which means the solar plant costs 21.85196... times as much as the crystal it would save in sats, and that's just for that particular planet and looking at crystal costs alone. When you factor in different mine levels, maximum temperatures, defense to protect sats, and rebuilding destroyed sats, it gets incredibly complex.

i stopped at lvl 27 solar plant

I have

Metal
28 12113 -4038

crystal
23 4118 -2060

and deut
26 3551 -6198

i have 160 sats
I don`t like fusion because it uses deut, but its okay up to lvl 8-9, it covers about 900 energy for 200 deut or so
I only have it on my main because a guy who had my acc for a few weeks built it. :rolleyes:

Anyways...i guess i`ll have to go for the hight solar plant lvls or a stronger defence to guard my sats when i start going for 32\28\28 :o

kwinse, I didn't understand your calculation:

32/28/25 need 16210

287 satellite at 60 temperature will give 10.045 energy.

So to power up your mines you'll need 463 satellites, built with 926.000 crystal.

Using solar plant level 28, (1.704.453 crystal) you need 232 satellite, built with 464.000 crystal. Total crystal: 2168000 crystal.

So, assuming no one attacks you, it's better go with the satellites...but as the 463 satellite will be profitable even for a nice fleet, how much crystal you are going to use to build the defence to protect your satellite?

In the end it all depends on the way you play: if you are a turtle, go with the satellite, if you don't build defence solar plant is the way to go.

true true, they supply safe energy..... and i would have to rebuild satellites everytime. I think i will stop at lvl 30 on two of my planets and about 28 on my others unless, in the future, I have the desire to buy a larger one....

Sorry if I didn't make it clear, but I included a solar 26 (6197 energy) on the theoretical planet, and ran the numbers through a spreadsheet I have that predicts the number of sats, which has so far been proven to be right.

16210 - 6197 = 10013
(60 / 4) + 20 = 35
10013/35 = 286.0857... sats, which rounds up to 287.

Everyone has their own personal way of going about it. I say 25-30 is a good area. after that it costs too much. sats start to come in handy. How many you can supors depends of your def, i have little def so few sats. Keeps them from being cycled.

You should get MINIMUM Solar 26. Anything lower, and you'll be using too many sats or too much fusion.

i have all my solar plants at 28 or 29... i plan on going to like 31ish then a few sats should do... but i am long time thinker...thinking of wars and such
