Attacking and Defending?

  • Hello there,

Been playing Ogame again for about a month now. I used to play when I was younger but never worked out what the numbers are and how they relate to each other when it comes to attacking.

So my questions are: Can you explain the numbers in the orange circles? Why they are red? Why they are green? and How they relate? etc......

And also, on the espionage report, the numbers of fleets and defences don't match the actual number of ships/ defences they have when I press more details. I am confused as it seems to be just random to me. I am obviously missing something?

    Many thanks in advance =D

  • tech data is just that. That is what separates the ship from one another, what ship is stronger and what isnt :) that is what counts (as rapid fire too, but this is more important) when u simulate the battle between two fleets :)
Rapidfire is: how many "green number" ships one can destroy in one shot.
i'm not sure what is the red number but i think it how many will be destroyed in one shot by the other one :)

  • Rapidfire is chance to fire extra shot(s) when engaged in combat. Green colour is RF given, while red is RF received meaning this ship type is good against the listed greens and bad against the listed reds.
E.g. Cruisers have 6 RF against Light Fighters, making Cruisers excellent against Light Fighters. Conversely Cruisers receive 4 RF from Battlecruisers, making Cruisers very vulnerable when pitted against Battlecruisers.

The other numbers are harder to explain, as it is pretty much as basic as it gets. These are the stats for ships/defences, listing health points (structural integrity), armour (shield) and offensive power (attack).

Edit: A third image was added while I wrote.
This one show a quick summary of how much defence and fleet is present at the target location. Click on "More details" to get the full report which shows specifically how much of each defence and fleet type is present at the location.

Thank you very much, but I still don't understand fully. In the espionage report, when I click more detail. It doesn't show me 10 million defence structures but actually far less? same for the fleets?

Its seems so confusing. Whats the difference between structural integrity and shield?? and what does attack strentgh hit? and what first?? ugh!!!........... confused.com

  • It is not the number of units but the value. 10 Light Lasers would show not as 10, but as 20.000 as that is their value (15k metal + 5k crystal building costs).

Shields are repaired every round, while damage to the SI lasts for the rest of the battle.
E.g. A unit has 15 shield and 4.000 SI. In Round 1 this unit is hit with 100 damage. The shield absorb the first 15, with the rest damaging the SI. This unit will in Round 2 have 15 new shield points, but only 3.915 SI.

  • It's cool if you want to understand all that and I learned it as I went too. Rapid Fire and value are the most important, value to know what will end up in the debris field. To really get an idea of what is good against what and how to combine fleet against defences and other fleet or how to build defences I suggest you use a battle simulator and try some things out. https://trashsim.universeview.be/ has become one of the most popular.

^^ Thank you guys, this really helped and I understand much better now. I will start using the simulators soon as well.

One thing I am not fully cleared up on though is again the rapid fire numbers? So is it the amount of shots in one round against the defending ship or is it how many ships it will destroy? or what? and what is the difference between rapid fire and attack strength?

Could you please maybe give examples??

Thank you again and sorry if you mentioned it already, I just don't quite get it. ?(

  • Rapidfire determines the number of shots, and attack strength determines the damage of each shot.

To be honest, rapidfire is a very complex equation that is entirely unneeded to know. You just need to know which ships are good against what either because of RF or the lack thereof. Play around with the sims to get a better understanding of this, but don't worry too much about the intricacies of the formula.

So im guessing that is per round???

Thank you very much by the way, you have helped a lot

  • Check this out

It explains it all with rapid fire and it's important to know what ships you should bring against others to reduce your losses. For example, the reason why many fleeters prefer battlecruisers over other ships is due to it's rapidfire against many ships which means it can destroy more ships each round.

Thank you very much. I can see how it is complex but it definatlely helped me understand what I wanted to know. Thanks =D
