Phalanx bug?

  • So, I understand that a deployment or transport mission from a moon to another moon can not be phalanxed... If this is wrong, please let me know and just disregard the rest of this post.
I have a player, hitting me with 30+ espionage missions 1-2 hours before my fleet returns and then sets a fleet to land within usually 5 minutes of my fleet landing. I am starting to get a bit tired of this... I know he could be doing a 'blind' phalanx, but with m y VERY random returns (1-10 hours difference) each day, I would expect him to try this within a much more... constant time frame. Anyone have any suggestions? And it has been a while since I had a phalanx, does the phalanx still give the attacked player an espionage report?

    Thank you guys,

  • it depends on what mission u r doing , if you are Fleetsaving into DF it can be watched till the DF disappear and the attacker blind DF return you , a Phalanx report only show all mission done on the planet not gone from the planet ,, it doesn't show an espionage report but if you have any action going on the planet it can be seen and what type/number of ships. there are many ways to blind lanx someone it depend what are you doing and how you are fleetsaving ... if you are doing transport from moon to planet the attacker can calculate your return time and follow you back home on the moon ,, if it is a deployment to a planet , it can be watched by spamming the lanx until you recall (by forcing you to recall) and calculate the time and follow you back home :)

  • moon->moon cannot be phlanxed.
they can see activity however and judge how long deplyoment can take.
e.g if you are deploying from slot 10 to slot 5 it is easy to know when you will land with calculators.
Say if you send deploy mission at 9:00pm 10seconds and go offline you will have activity counter at 9:15 pm (15)

i can guess you sent deploy before going offline I can even wait until 9:16 and 10seconds to see the (16) appears to see exact time you went offline.

i then know it takes you e.g. 4hrs at 50% 6hrs at 40% 8hrs at 30% from my calculator (using your techs etc calculator shows me your travel time)

i can easy calculate when your fleet is expected to land and calculate deploy landing time for each of these options.. so i know roughtly when i expect your fleet to land...

I can check at 01:16:10, at 03:16:10 and at 05:16:10 to see if your fleet has landed.
    then attack.

counters for this is to have some activity on your moon when you go offline.. e.g. send recycler to debris to return every ~15 minutes... this means he wont know when exactly you go offline unless he is constantly probing... - just dont make it obvious by being active on every planet you have which will then all have timer which shows offline time..
also as you mention different activity times is very useful...

Also you might have option to get an ACS defend if you have someone you can trust to arrive 15-20 soon after your fleet returns... if they are close enough they can surely time it...
especially if you do not show activity its quite possible he doesnt slow attack if you play it nicely.

  • Kenyard's post is great.

Simple answer: hang around for 15 minutes after you launch and randomize the activity on your planets and moons. ALWAYS be on a few minutes before your fleet lands so that you can just relaunch right away.

If you don't get mouthy (and make it a matter of pride), they will quickly move on to something else.

Welcome to OGame. There are some bad mothas out there. You just need to be faster than the next slowest guy.
