Merge 2018 Discussion Thread

    i think with Virgo someone made i mistake, if im not mistaken its the only 1x speed going with 9 other 2x speed unis, we should go to uni1 i think..

    This is a joke???... been out of the game for more than 10 years and now enjoying a relatively lazy universe which suits me well... what is happening???... REFERENDUM!!!...

    Yet somehow i dont understand why Oberon has become target uni,we have only pusher Atilla above 200m points ,all others are lower with second player with 58m points,we as i think dont need to merge with Izar and Cygnus.For me if you remove Atilla we are middle strenght uni,i think its more real that we merge with wezn kallisto unity and few others or just that izar and cyg can merge.

    My Quaoar account will be lucky to stay in the top 100 (from rank 15) after the merge, but I'm ok with that. I crashed my way up once, I can do it again.
    But my virgo account moving from a x1 speed to x2 I'm not so sure. I joined virgo specifically for the speed so I could just mine in peace.
    Now I will have to give it some more attention. All my planets are clustered together so becoming a fleeter to fend for myself is not an option unless GF allows me to relocate all my planets into strategic places. Also, it is currently set to merge with the same uni as my Quaoar account so a solution needs to be found here since we cannot have multis in the same uni.


    Apart from that. I like it. Bring it on.
    Maybe it will revive my joy of playing

    Virgo uni is fleet speed x1 don't ruin that.noone of us gonna play x2...by the way we didn't have voted about that sp make right thing...

    First, thank you to those who like the merge plan. I know that some of you don't, but making everyone happy is impossible.
    I have a feeling that some don't read the whole thread so the same questions keep popping up again and again.


    What do we know so far:


    • Will account exchanges be made available before the merge? - No.
    • What should I do if I have multiple accounts in one merge group? - For users who have multiple accounts in one merge group an additional target universe will be added. The list for these servers will be announced later on.
    • Will the merge be postponed until account exchanges are made possible? - No.
    • What about the other settings beside fleet and eco speed? - Exodus unis will take over the settings of the target uni with some exceptions
    • Will Xanthus be ACS server after the merge? - No.
    • Will Uriel keep the special rules? - No. Even though it's a target uni, the rules will be adjusted.

    You say that polls for setting changes can be done after the merge... will these be the same 80% pass limit or will it be simple majority? If I have no choice but to move to increased fleet speed can I at least have a fair vote!?

    I understand the issue and I commiserate with all the Virgo players. I appreciate all of the input and unfortunately, I cannot promise you anything, but I am sure that everyone is reading your posts so we'll see what happens.

    If some of you didn't get their answers, you are not being ignored, but I need to double check on few things before answering. And it's the weekend, so I think that we will know more on Monday.

    If I am reading all the concerns correctly, the biggest one is Virgo & it going 2x fleet.


    Maybe there will be a way to poll those in Virgo to see the consensus on this... maybe then there will be a way to keep the majority happy... Just a thought

    Virgo player here.... And yeah, I have no interest in anything else than 1x fleet either. If that happens, me and my magical credit card are out, too bad for Gameforge.


    There is a reason Virgo is so active compared to even much more recent unis.


    1x speed is the only reasonable speed to play on long-term for people who have a busy RL and cannot manage checking oGame every 5 min all day long... It is the only speed which allows you to have a half-normal life while also being at the top of your uni... That is the reason why Virgo still has so many players hanging around, playing their game and not being worried about getting their moons popped in 2 hours inside their system.


    Speed unis are fun for a while but die out faster because everyone, or almost, gets crashed at some point. 1x unis are played on the long run. Accounts are built differently, fleets as well. People set their gaming habits in accordance with their RL and that actually works fine with that speed. Getting big hits is much more work but that is what makes it fun and different from speed unis; you play the game on the long run.

    All of the above players mention they don't want to change fleet speed and all of them but one or two would quit if that happens. That is out of the people that have spoken out on this thread only. Believe me I'll make sure everyone gets their two cents in in the next days.


    So, in reality, what will happen if Virgo merges into 2x: most top players from Virgo will quit, effectively killing off the main protagonists in one of the most active and interesting unis on .org, in order to give a few more farms to players from other unis with much bigger fleets.


    And, those farms will be so much smaller compared to the new fleeters, hell they might even be green to them. At any rate, most of em will be tiny-ass, scrawny farms that will barely yield anything compared to those huge accounts. Barely better than giving them more inactives.


    Virgo has it's own storyline which is very enjoyable, there are 3 allies one top with not one clearly leading, there are fleets on every side and right now the universe is extremely balanced. Players there enjoy it a lot and have been building their accounts according to the fleet speed.


    If you wanna kill that balance, at least leave us in 1x fleet. That speed attracts a different pool of players than speed unis do, forcing them to merge into a new playing style just ain't cool. :thumbdown:

    Everyone merging in vega are 2x fleet speed unis for the exception of Virgo, we have always been original 2x fleet speed. Who one earth from any of the unis merging to Vega will agree to a downgrade.? Sorry Virgo I understand your pain but I highly doubt you will be able to convince the 8 other unis merging to downgrade to 1x fleet speed so creating a poll would be a waste of everyone’s time.. I strongly urge GF to rethink Virgo’s target destination and consider then for the 1x fleet speed group
