This has had a lot of research carried out by spamboard researchers, especially Eclectic and N.Angel. What they have found is that the proper speed depends on the skill and the number of men (or individuals with strap ons). A skilled mantrain with up to 10 individuals can do upto 60 thrusts a minute. The man joining them if they have enough skill can do so at 20 thrusts.
