Research speed

    so at the moment we have 25% research speed increase.
    i have IRN at lvl 6
    my labs are 12, 10, 12, 12, 12, 12, 12 = 82
    universe speed factor is 7x
    i have technocart activated for another 25% speed increase


    when i go to ogame online calculator http://proxyforgame.com/en/ogame/calc/costs.php and fill in all info i get that astro tech from lvl 17 to lvl 18 should last 1w 1d 17h, now i need to decrease that another 25% to account for this event right now, and i get down to 6d 12h 45min


    buuuut ingame when i look, actually i clicked it, at my astro it shows 6d 13h 18min
    so the calc gets a 33min error :D
    or i dont know how to calculate it ?



    another solution is to fill it in in the calc wothout technocart and cut it in half to account for 25%+25% buff
    1w 4d 15h cut in half is 5d 13h 30min
    sooooo, game is slower for about 24h?


    my question arises, how do the 25% buffs apply, are they additive or multiplicative?


    we are talking hera about 7days of fresearch, not much, about 200mil ress, not much, max 24h mistake, still not much
    but if we boost it up to astro 21+, there you get nice timers and much bigger differences


    is the calc wrong, am i making a mistake, do we have a bug on our hands?

  • They definitely are multiplicative. So it should be 56.25% of the unboosted time.


    What you noticed is very interesting. I'll try to reproduce it in game myself.


    EDIT: This seems to be true of my researches as well.

  • i figured they multiplicative as additive would be too good to be true, and calculation results are much closer for multiplicative

  • My current best guess is that the 25% research event really works by adding 33.3% more research lab levels. With 82*1.333 =109.3 lab levels, your research should take 6d 13hr 17m. So the in game display will only be off by one minute or so.

    Why 33.3%?
    And if a calc is working properly not even a single second of mistake is acceptable
    Working calcs are on spot 100%

  • my current best guess is that bonus% are multiplicative and that the calc i linked caos out at showing only w d and h, he lea es out min and sec
    And he should have there an aditional of 44mins, and then the calc works fine, the game is buggless and all is fine n dandy

  • I suppose the issue here could be a rounding error in the calculator.
    My experience is GameForge only uses the floor or ceiling function at the end of a calculation.
    So, if the calculator is rounding before the final calculation it will be off by a relatively significant margin.
    However, I believe the calculations are done with JavaScript so you should be able to check how it is calculating everything.

    I'm the one who supports proxyforgame.com now.

    Not sure how relevant is this fix since v7 came out, but I introduced separate controls for universe speed and +25% research speed event. And I got exactly the same 6d 13h 18min you mentioned.

    I'm about to begin implementing everything I need about v7. Please feel free to offer any suggestions.
