new POP-UPs advertising

  • Ok....Like that it is not enough some stupid "quick menu for planets" pop ups...Now I am getting whole new advertising pop-ups over 3/4 of my screen few times per day???? Now I am only waiting for banner that will take on top half of my screen, so you will always need to scroll down to do ANYTHING!!!!

    :borg:

  • I've contact the COMA, piink and requested that GF make a compromise on the ad.

I think we can all live with the ad, it's just the placement and frequency that it pops up is disruptive.

It may take a little time to correct, but be aware it is the weekend and those that may be in charge of this feature may not be able to address it until Monday.

My apologies folks and thanks for your patience!

sure if you didn't read T&C. All ad-blockers are strictly forbidden and they can be result of instant perma ban. At least this was the case 10 years ago, so adblock is off for ogame in my browser. Also ad-blockers are one of the scripts that can be easy detected.

Can you point out to the exact page where it says that?

  • i have been banned 10 years ago by COMA because using adblock...reported one player for bugusing (sending probes 2seconds before attack which serves for possible LAG creating) add my screenshot with adblock ON and I was banned he wasn't...funny thing is that today I finally find this rule writen in rules lol...at that time I fight with GO, SGO, COMA...and no ban...same thing happen to me 3 years ago as player was protecting MD missions with 30k dessies 2s before MD... Bugusing is, but not limited to these examples:

    • Any fleet actions towards the defender 6 seconds before an attack
    • Sensor phalanx spam)

    Good job on this GF

anyway about ad-blocking: at that time it was written in T&C strictly... however now I can't find it anymore but it can be part of this and as I was banned years ago and I am pretty sure it can be placed under this in T&C. Maybe Silverwind can clarify this?

  • I'm sorry, what's the problem if I refuse to look at intrusive ads forcibly shoved by GF, just like I refuse to look at those ads on any other site? This, like many of current rules, is stupid.

Also, it's just one of many performance reducing page elements (next to unused features, having to install 3-5 addons to make the game playable etc.)

None of mentioned ad blockers block DM related ads but rather this BS that none of us is gonna play anyway, I refuse to reduce my already tiny IQ for that :)

I gotta add, I wonder if anyone would really get banned for using an adblocker, that would really add to the whole report-a-player system irony and its efficiency.

  • Don't shoot me for this one as I am only the messenger.

    This is the official response:

The GameForge provided solution to this is to purchase Commander.

With Commander you do not see the advertisements.

Again, I am just the messenger here.

My suggestion is to start using Stomt to have your opinions on this heard.

As I told you...I was banned years ago because of this...I send screenshot to GO of other things...and i receive ban from COMA  ( But today you have scripts that detects ad-blocker.)

but yes...years ago it was much easier to get a ban than today.

I can't prove it to you, because I manage to unban my acc with talking to her over IRC channel, so i have no ticked opened.

  • I have it purchased as I can't do expos fast without it anyway.

I am not affected by this problem, but I'm just saying it's 2020, one can add that anti adblock script that even blogs have and that's it. Asking politely or demanding for adblock to be disabled for this site.

    Banning people for using adblock...wtf?

Basic problem here is that most adblocks block only intrusive ads, and most applications/websites have option of some form of a subscription that disables non intrusive ads.

I think the only thing left with intrusive ads are below average android games where devs decided to milk them while they're still a hit, torrent and porn sites.

And all this time I am not shooting any messengers, so far all forum members that argued with me are alive and well don't worry kewlness :D

  • Interesting competitions arising on boards these days! :D :D

  • Oh, then it must've been the Commander that helps me.

However - I still don't see where is it written that you can't use ad-block
