Never really posted a hit before, but I guess I should do it for a New Number 1 Solo, especially since this section (and uni) has been very quiet for most of its life. Even when it looks like something is going to happen and the stars are finally aligning, for one reason or another, nothing actually ends up happening
I always loved reading the stories that accompanied a hit, and although this hit is not that interesting or skillful, I'll try to describe how it came to happen.
I was quietly sitting in vmode, debating whether to even come back or not to play in the uni, (I had already been vmoded for a while, a couple weeks back, and hopped out once every few days just to pop someone or in case someone of us got popped) when someone shared a spy report of the defender. I noticed he had quite a nice fleet and... it was in my system in G5
So I decided to hop out just to spend some resources I still had around and in the meanwhile keep an eye out. I wasn't too confident about flying while he idled since he seemed to refresh often and possibly do short fleetsaves on his own DF for most of the day, couldn't tell for sure since I never probed him. I was also sceptic about him doing it dirty there in my system, since he has a triple system in G1 and two moons 1 system apart in G2. And yet, the day after, that was still the only moon constantly active during the day... So the next morning I woke up a bit earlier than usual and sent 6 waves of 10 rips, since I usually don't have much luck with MDs and wanted to maximize my chances. Well, after 6 waves of 25.3%, the moon of course was still standing I had lost my chance and a few rips
The defender came on about 20 minutes before the first MD hit and did nothing to try to stop it, just sent a single "Lul" by message
I'll admit I was quite pissed, I was 99% sure he was doing it dirty there and the only reason I didn't get him was pure luck... But whatever, I told myself I'd keep an eye out and if he started deploying I'd leave him alone since ain't nobody got time for that
And indeed things weren't looking too bright, after his fleet came back to that pesky moon, he jumped it away to one of his moons in G2. Surely he would deploy, right?
The morning after it was still there so I wanted to go for it but figured I would do it in a few days, since I was tired and wanted the take the weekend to chill, sleep in and just check on him once in a while to gather more info. Well, a couple unnamed cunts in my ally half-jokingly (or not) told me I either went for it tonight, or they would. They were also probing him often and I was afraid those noobs would scare him away
So I fleetsaved early, prepared deut and Rips to get there at the right time. Sent 6x20 this time for a whopping 36% chance, which took the moon at the third try, I swore I would instantly vmode if that moon didn't fall
I even hesitated to lanx, thinking I would find nothing. And then I saw the harvest mission coming back in about 1 hour
I expected it to come back a lot later so had to scramble around to find the recys I was missing, since I'm a stingy noob and I can't seem to bring myself to actually build them
Profits could've been better, lots of losses, but ended up quite alright
Anyway, apparently the defender had every intention of deploying but a friend of his got popped and had her fleet locked, so he decided to do a short FS to have his fleet ready to defend in the morning. There was some luck and some misfortune on both parts.
Very fast rebuild to him, who said he's going to stick around for a while. Always good to hear
Hopefully this won't be N1 for long
