Can we have a vote to change server settings in Dorado ?

  • I know we just joined Dorado for 1x speed uni and that is awesome Thank you GF for changing there minds and saved Dorado from extinction,

    otherwise everyone would now be in Bellatrix 3x or Fenrir 6x uni :freakout:

    The duet cost is to expensive for expos or raiding inactives and as a miner i v-mode my account the other day

    my only other option is to change to general class I am thinking very hard about that or quit:thinking:


    So before Dorado turns into a graveyard :zombiewalk:


    can we have a vote to change server settings please ?

    2x 4x or 6x eco ?

    6 x or 12x research

    that would make the uni more balanced for all and low accounts will grow.

  • If they do open it to a vote, I hope it's an actual vote and not just a general subjective consensus of comments in a forum. It needs to be a vote ingame by people actually playing in the uni.


    Personally, I think it should be kept as is and people just need to adapt to the changes and keep Dorado's historic legacy settings intact as it is the only uni left with old school oGame settings.


    I also don't think changing the ECO is going to do much at all for the lower ranked, they'll still be low ranked regardless...time stands still for no man, and the same ECO bonus given to the low ranked players is also given to the higher ranked and you will still be stuck with a huge disparity.


    However, if we must make changes then I believe they need to implement a system that not only helps lower ranked players to be more competitive but also a system that will still be able to attract new players starting an account here from scratch some measure of hope to climb the ranks and be competitive. Make ECO and research percentages operate on a sliding scale similar to how expos are awarded based off the points of rank one.


    For example:


    Zero to 1KK points gets 12x ECO & RES

    1KK points to 5KK points gets 8x ECO & RES

    5KK points to 25KK points gets 4x ECO & RES

    25KK points to 50KK gets 2X ECO & RES


    ...and so on and so on until the higher ranked are capped at 1X or some other system that people far better at math than me are able to come up with that makes sense from the perspective that what we all should actually want is a competitive field, and not the typical field of massive untouchable accounts that most unis eventually give way too.


    This allows new players to join and have a chance of catching up while stalling the higher ranks from running away in the points to the point where it's no longer competitive or challenging.


    I don't think fuel consumption should change at all, we did just fine with that setting...the big monster fleets will just have to learn about fuel economy and conservation. That fuel setting is one thing that is actually helping the lower ranked players survive by making it less profitable to launch on them.

  • This is something I've thought would be interesting to implement on a larger scale (to give smaller ranked players bigger eco buffs). I've never thought about it too much past the idea so don't really have too many thoughts on implementation although I'd have thought rankings may be a better idea to base it off?

    Then change it, it's just code. It's not like they haven't changed the code and implemented new developments over the years.

    Surveys are done like this:


    A post is made on the forum news section (or an announcement in each server board) that surveys are now open.

    A thread is made in the server community where discussions are had about what settings should be requested.

    These are compiled and then an actual survey with a link is provided in-game for everybody on the server to vote (if they wish).

    Should the votes for a change meet the required threshold, the change is implemented.

    Should the votes for a change not meet the required threshold, the change is not implemented.


    Surveys will not be open until all merges in the .org community have completed.


    On a further note, it is currently not possible to configure server settings based on a player's rank.

    Honestly, I do not see a change of that magnitude being added to the code any time soon.

    However, I will still forward the idea up the chain to see if Gameforge is open to discussing it.

    Maybe once the merges are complete, Gameforge will have some breathing room and be open to looking at new ideas.

    if the code i have seen is from ogame i can not say it is or is not but from what i saw in the code i would rather shoot myself and try and fix that mess


    when/if a vote is done an option for 5 times should not be on same with moving the furl used from 0.5 or keep it as 1 at that point you should have just used mensa as a target uni

    You can easily start from the beginning on Sombrero for example, x8 eco, x16 research and have millions of points in a month


    Dorado should remain oldschool. Maybe lower deu consumption to make expos and idlers profitable

    There is also factor of inactives and turtles having more res. Inactive become much more lucrative and turtles actually become profitable, there are also expos, etc. Mine production itself and disparity ratio from mine production itself remain the same.

    kewlness could you please provide a bit more details:

    - How are these compiled into a survey? If 5 people post they want x2 eco speed, 5 people post they want x5 eco speed, 10 people post they want it to remain as is (1x in Dorado case) and 1 posts he wants x3, 1 posts he wants x4, 1 posts he wants x6 and 1 posts he wants x7. What would be actually in survey in such case?

    - In upper case 24 posts are on eco speed setting. With those there is 1 post that asks for DiDF, 1 that asks for Probe Storage on. Will these be included into survey also?

    - what does it mean that votes for change meet the required threshold? How is this threshold determined? And do we vote for only one possible change compared to current status or? E.g. Current setting is 1x eco speed - do we have option to vote for it to remain as is and 1 change option for higher speed (lets say 2x) or is it possible to have multiple choices (lets say 2x and 5x). How is threshold then determined?

    She will not answer them before the survey is open because we are working on other issues right now.


    I know this is a big question, but you guys are putting the cart before the horse here.

    Let's get through all the merges.

    Our CoMa is not only responsible for this community but for several Gameforge communities.

    As you might expect, merges are disruptive and require a lot of time to assist all the members of the community.


    So, give her some time to get past all the merges and then we will explain the server surveys once there is a post stating the surveys are open.

  • I think the issue here is twofold - players from other unis wanted to keep x1 fleet speed (and were forced to come to Dorado) but want to keep their higher eco and research speeds. On the other hand, Dorado originals just want us to get off their lawn and leave their settings alone.


    Surely the solution is obvious - GF needs to open a new server for those of us who want X1 fleet speed and boosted eco/research and reduced deut cost.

    Not only were we forced to come here but we then had to suffer a double whamy with the econ and deut. We came from much higher econ and lower deut - it is like taking a fish from a river and putting it in a puddle.


    Dorado is losing active players at a rate of 20 a day. Players cannot exist under these conditions and are v moding or quitting.


    As for the original 29 active players in Dorado before merger, they don't have to take advantage of an increased econ/research - they can always turn their power down and reduce their IRN levels to maintain their previous growth speed - but I suspect few will.


    Dorado needs life support now before it is too late!

    This fella has hit the nail on the head imo. I would like to bring an account here to play when more mergers are done, x1 x1 30% gets me all misty eyed... I hope when the next round of merges is done those that do not like it here can move on to fresh pastures and we can keep a x1 x1 server.

  • I think people need to adapt and persevere to the conditions they chose, no one forced Dorado on anyone as there were 3 choices to choose from. Yes, only one of those had 1x fleet, but there were still 3 choices to make. I will always vote against any changes to the current "normal" settings, but I will accept the results regardless and learn to live with them (provided it's still 1x fleet).


    Changing ECO and fuel consumption are only wanted because people are saying they can't afford to fly their fleets anymore due to the "normal" fuel consumption rates and "normal" ECO settings. Adapt...it's going to be awhile before there is a vote. Up the deut mines, move to slot 15s, start trading more, sell ships, scrap ships and build bigger deut mines, whatever you need to do...


    Right now, one of the things saving a lot of the lower ranked players that are still playing is the normal ECO and normal fuel consumption, because now all these massive fleets can't afford to launch and be profitable in some cases. Increasing ECO and RES and lowering fuel consumption might help lower ranked players, but in the long term it will only increase the point disparity between them and the higher ranked.


    Want to actually help make a universe competitive and vibrant, then introduce a sliding scale system of ECO and Research so that lower ranked and new players have the increase in ECO and RES and it goes down as they reach a certain amount of points or rank until it levels off so that lower ranked players have an actual chance of catching up. This isn't the numbered unis, there aren't thousands of players on the servers, and there are not enough active targets or fat inactive accounts for them to raid and grow like we used to be able to.


    I think a lot of these accounts are going v-mode to go 60 days inactive in anticipation of the free graveyard/merge. But even then...if you're looking for 1x fleet you are going to be hard pressed for options.


    So, while I'm against any changes...put it to a vote. But just like the merge, be careful what you wish for.

  • A vote on changing server settings? Sure I am in.

    Change research speed to like 4x or 8x and leave everything else like it is. It's a balanced universe that requires skill to play. And strangely it was also quite resilient in attrition numbers. Even now, that we see attrition numbers rising, it is mostly people that merged to Dorado, not original Dorado players. Wonder why.....
