Lifeforms - Feedback thread

  • The more I look at v9 and spreadsheets doing the math. I don't like a few things about lifeforms.

-Discovering lifeforms is still way too many clicks. I kinda wish I could click and do a whole system at once...or an opt out back for the pop up that comes up...

-I wish Rock'tal were actually the best choice for miners and not Mecha the way it is now. I'm all for a little customization and I love the idea of the Chip Mass Production building..but maybe its bonus should only apply to Mecha base techs? I know there's still balancing to be done so hopefully that's taken into consideration.

-Please, please, please add an option to customize tech trees with DM. Save us all the pain.

    - Probably too late now but too many res techs. Fewer with more impact would be cool. The cargo capacity for civilian ships is a great idea. You wouldn't have to look too hard to come up with some other great ones ie increased storage capacity on planets, moon building time reduction. Most of the ships have a tech you can upgrade them with...Colony ship hasn't be looked at yet...what if colony ships landed with more res and had better engines?

  • Hello, why mecha are better than Rock'Tal for miner? Just for the tech level bonus of chip mass production? But human have better no with 0,5 per level instead of 0,3?

  • might be a few stupid questions here.

1 when lifeforms come out will something keep track of how many have been killed?

    2. Is there gonna be a leader board for most lifeforms or most lifeforms killed?

    3. How many diffeent lifeforms are there and what are there names and basic explain of them?

    4. Will there be specific missions that only lifeforms can do or a benefit or option to send them with a fleet?

    5. Will lifeforms be able to be on moons?

    6. If I decide I want to delete a planet can I move the lifeforms to a diffrent one?

  • I've been experimenting in bermuda and i have to say this: It's just me or the rock'tall lifeform is just broken AF??

I mean, i'm a miner so it's great but it just seems too good.

I've not run the math since before the last balance patch, so this may have changed.

Rock'tal will offer a larger boost right off the bat as many things are simpler and more accessible. As in, Rock'tal directly has buildings that boost production and have several +Production techs that you will be able to select. Downside is the cost to take Rock'tal buildings far and unlock the entire tech tree will be quite rough for many people.

Mecha has more long-term potential as they have buildings that enhance the techs and should have an easier time to build up and unlock all 18 tech slots. The majority of the boosts from this expansion are in the Techs, so having a way to boost them up should net a larger return once you invest enough. Downside is that you will have to use the random roll feature to get the techs you want. So time/cost to get the perfect setup will be a bit harder.

I initially felt the same with the Rock'tals. But I would recommend trying out Mecha also. Long term they should win out, but may start up a bit slower.

  • The actual nice thing is they tend to even out over time. There are draw backs to bring no certain races and benefits. If you’re a miner Rock’tal are pretty good as most of the lifeform techs you want as a miner end up being Rock’tal. I don’t think it’s too good. The cost scales quickly, almost too quickly early game.

    1. how/where does the lifeform tech bonus apply
    2. What is the max level for the races, mentioned in the new patch but no numbers for it
    3. How does the increased crawler efficiency interact with the 50% cap on crawlers. Or has the cap been removed in v9
    4. How did some get 28 planets? there isnt any tech i can see that decreases ordinary techs
    5. Does the kaleash enchancement technology increase the +10% larger colonies on colonization?

Edited once, last by Rafiki ().

  • 1. Well depending on the tech, its applies to the base mine production, or applies to the base stats of the ship etc

    2. No information on that...believe its in the planning stages to be added

    3. The crawler cap is the cap...if you're already at the cap when you research this tech it won't do anything (as far as I know)

    4. Its the test server...some of those accounts have been around for ages...don't worry about it too much

    5. Not that I'm aware of...there is a building that increases planet fields though...

  • So you have enough food to cover 16hours but it will be consumed in 4hours

only two answers i see here

one your ppl eat more than should tsk tsk or more probable ogame is on point with current economy and your rich citizens are corrupt and selling food elsewhere and keep population starving :D

but on the real yeah it needs more months before implementation i wouldnt want to see it going live this year like that

  • Is there a decent guide to this yet? Something that will give me direction, goals, etc? I dont feel like skimming this and the other threads.

Looking for an alliance in Halley that is interested in these lifeforms as well. Old timer, same name in game but with a space.

Brute force, if it's not working, you aren't using enough.

  • Hello,

I just look at the lifeform excel sheet about the life form increase factor, after I applied the usual formula, it doesn't match what says in game at all.

The formula I am using is:

    cost = base cost * factor ^ (level - 1),

Anyone know if this is due to different formula is used in Liform case or any special adjustment use? Thanks you.

  • for lifeforms it is base cost*increase factor^(level-1)*level

  • cost = base cost * factor ^ (level - 1)

You also have to multiply it with the current tech/building level

So it should be: Rounddown (base cost * increase factor^level-1 * level)

If you would like to know what the next level will cost:

    Rounddown (base cost * increase factor^level * (level+1))

  • Hey guys, thanks for the answers! I will try the formula in my excel sheets tonight and see how it goes. Have a good game!
