A solution to stave off the eventual "death" of our universe.

  • Greetings to everyone, I hope my thread finds you all well.


    Since our universe is unfortunately "dying"(despite of not existing for even a single year, go figure), with the current numbers of registered, and active, players rapidly declining in recent weeks, I will like to request a potential universe-wide poll with the intention of eventually "altering" the current universe settings in order to make our universe a more attractive and enticing destination not only to new players but to, in addition, offer an incentive for older ones to continue playing as well.


    My proposal is mostly directed to the overall economy as well as research speed, including the possible number of bonus planetary fields.


    Increasing the overall economy and research speed from the current values of x4/x8 to x8/x16 respectively and the possible number of bonus planetary fields from the current value of 25 to 31, will not only make the gameplay more enjoyable but will also be in conjunction with the "Mining" nature of this universe.


    A contingent increase to the number of available galaxies from the current number of 6 to 9 can also be considered.

  • only way i think we can get new players into the uni would be for them to have a reward of some sort to join.

    Maybe a seeze fire on them from a longer period of time (where they cant attack) but gives there account a chance to grow without it getting damaged.

    Ogame just stop making uni's faster than the uk changes prime ministers. But that wont happen.


    The only reason for someone to keep there account atm is cause of the dm some players put into theres.

    The version is the same for every server, and the presence of lifeforms is just a switch in the control panel. You can activate them or leave them off. So it's definitely doable. Only difference is once you activate them, it's not pratical to turn them off.


    Not everyone likes lifeforms. Some players would definitely prefer a universe without them and without the insane amount of shopping that occurs in some of the new servers.

    I have heard nothing official what so ever, my suspicion is though they will make all universes with lifeforms regardless.


    Perhaps in the future a new uni *may* have lifeforms turned off but even then I doubt it.


    Lifeforms seems to be GF's saving grace update to entice players to their mobile app.


    I actually think universes die quickly these days because first time new player retention is very poor, my belief is due to the complexity of the game these days, people like these idle clicker games with minimal thought process.

  • Not only that, its pay to win. Before uni's came out left right n center, and before DM. Ogame uni's although there were enemies the community was tight and there was alot of respect shown.Or atleast That was my experiance with uni5.

  • Yea you should or someone should atleast make some "official" tread, to change settings in negotiations with the GA or something.. forgot how the actual process goes..! and lifeforms i tryed, they'r so quite fun and even rise ur "eco" and stuff gains especialy for expos and mines, so its kinda sort of "extra Eco/fleet settings" without even chaning server stats, so its awesome to have honestly... :)

  • I think Dione is still kicking and beating, but it could use a refresh. What's the process to officially request a settings change? From what I know, the uni has to be at least 6 months old for its settings to be considered for a change. Well, Dione is about to celebrate its birthday, so what best than to give it a fresh breath of life.


    While it's a slower paced, miner oriented universe, I'm sure we could all agree that an increase in war speed and lowering of deut consumption would do wonders to spike some competition. Players in Dione have gone complacent without any "real" threat and an increase in war speed could do just that, put everyone on their toes and open up new possibilities in terms of looking for targets and making hits and keeping pressure on everyone to save their fleets.


    While an increase in eco is usually sought after as well, it has sort've become a standard to just slap 8x on any uni and call it a day, which is why I think it's eco setting is fine just as it is.


    As such I would personally recommend the universe settings to be changed from


    4x eco

    4x friendly

    1x hold

    1x war

    1.0x deut


    To


    4x eco

    4x friendly

    2x hold

    2x war

    0.5x deut


    However, once LF gets activated it will be quite too similar to Halley which is both good and bad. The bad thing is the fact that they're too similar obviously but the good thing is that Dione will be an excellent target for Halley to merge into at some point (depending on what you decide to do following the official Merge suggestions thead started by Progns).


    If the similarity with Halley would prove to be an issue then you can increase the eco to 6x, if you ask me.

  • yea i agree, atleast for expoing, rising abit points daily and etc.. it 'd be awesome to INCREASE ECO to x8 +- research myb to 16x.... and a 2x war would be amasingly good, or either if they count it as "eco uni" to increase then myb friendly fleet to 6x... since hits and everything else takes more time then ppl to age...


    so yeah recomended would be:


    warF > x2

    eco > x8


    research > x16 ( even tho totally optional since most of research has been done... )


    -- but essentially only eco atelast increase would help alot to develop abit old and new players till some future merge.. :) thanks!

    Alright, so instead of being negative and dismissive why don't you tell us what WILL liven up the universe? Changing settings is the GO TO option that the players have and that GameForge uses to freshen things up. So fleet speed and deut consumption baffle you and eco and research are pointless, gotcha. Let's all just Vmode and let the universe die then.


    EDIT: Besides, it's not about getting new blood in, it's about getting people out of Vmode to enjoy the game again and to play the accounts they spent months developing. We need a dialysis, not a blood transfusion.

  • Changing the fleet speed is exactly what should NOT be done.


    Some players choose slow servers because that's what they're comfortable with. Others choose speedservers for the same reason. If you take a slow server and turn into a speed server, those who can't / doesn't want to play in a speedserver will quit, and those who enjoy speedservers will have no particular reason to choose this one instead of many newer servers already available.


    The thing that could set this server stand aside and continue attract new players is keeping the lifeforms turned off. Not everyone like them, i am actually one who consider them a giant pile of stupid. But again, to each one his own. There already a fair number of servers with lifeforms, and it's safe to assume that every new server will get lifeforms, so having a few of them without them will give a place to be for players who do not like them, while those who like them already have plenty of choices.

  • Can we get an official view of Dione from GF? Are you happy with the activity in Dione? Have you considered doing something about its inertia or are the merges the only thing in focus now that could save Dione? I've read that the merges are planned for 2023 which could be at any point, but it would still be nice to have at least SOME change done to it, whatever it may be.


    I am personally eagerly awaiting the Lifeforms update but I don't think it will be enough.

  • Have you not noticed every uni ends up the same.. No matter what changes are made players wont come here. They get attacked x amount of times then quit move onto the next uni.


    Go back years when servers werent created like a hot dinners. Might be before your ogame experiance. People stuck out there Uni for ages. Cause a high level account took years to build not months. But not only that, there was no x8 eco or anything no extra fleet speeds, was acs or no acs. That is why people stuck there Uni out. Not only that the forums were so much more popular because of it. People could be enemies but still respected one another.Here ya upset someone ya dont care, they'll be gone soon or yourself will end up in another uni. Uni5 in .org was the first acs uni if i remember correctly. Thats what seperated new uni's. Im going back like 18 years ago.

  • Since uni is dying ( to sarcastic ? ) , i mean it's kinda dead already.. It requires some fresh stuff, some fresh change.. I know requesting this kind of matter is easy, but to make a change is actually hard. But seeing GF atleast with time gradually changing settings of the community servers, merging , especially alot of stuff that happened across multiple comunitys only this or past year, I'd like to ask for DIONE SETTINGS CHANGE to following:


    DEFENSE to DEBRIS Field 30% or either FLEET DF to 70% .


    PEACEFULL fleet from 4x to 6x or WAR from 1x to 2x


    ECONOMY from 4x to 8/12x ( since we have war 1x it's even possible to exceed over 8x looking from other communitys that was before )


    RESEARCH from 8x to 16x .


    ---


    Reason behind each setting, peacefull atleast to be able to transfer ress arround faster... War fleet eventually due high turtles in uni, to be able to move slower ships faster.. and Defense to DF would be nice due tons of turtles and no fleets to crash, and buildings + researchs being way way expensive at this point, to get some "extra" income atleast from crashing all those bilions of defense... that'd be refreshing totally and worth to strike anywhere without worry about deut cost vs RoI from fights if defenders come online... And ECO is kinda a "MUST" change, since in a half/dead uni we cant progress much more further since barely much hits also, that we have some extra income atleast stable 24/7 + especially a small boost for expo discoverer class 8x eco is a blast to rise and develop accounts further at this 100mil + point mark... So i'd like to ask kindly some GA - COMA - GF any kind of titled game member to try to suggest or either move this for the next setting change uni, especially since its soon hitting a 1year old mark, so lets donate to the comunity and people who stuck in here and stayed for over course of period of time. I know there is 0 to none almoust members from this uni reading even this tread, and them commenting or so wont be of much help since it all depends on community and gf if they'll do it.. But being into abit of programming i know it isn't hard to push few buttons and change few lines of code to increase someting of this kind... Atleast the ECO Speed would be nice, rest is more or less not that much important.

  • We discovered an issue with the script that sends out polls ingame, it's already reported and it's being fixed and after the fix that we can do it.


    For now you can discuss the features you want so when script is working we know what to ask in the poll.

    Seeing as you guys make the changes. Is there any proof anywhere where a change in uni eco/research/fleetspeed Has increased the population of any server in any way?

    All suggestions I'v seen so far are for there own benifits.

    and thats why you, ppl of Dione,

    need to make sure the voting is done all in one yes/no question


    that way either all changes pass or none do.. which makes both fleeters and miners compromise in a (small) way!


    as for activity.. ogame is losing players.. thats a fact that doesnt seem to change


    would Dione lose players if settings change? maybe.. but if its a balanced change (as in all player styles get some benefit) numbers might stay the same, or even increase


    but if you stick to same server settings, universe will die down at its own pace anyway
