Block Turkish Lira Transactions until exchange rate is updated to match DM Rewards

  • The only problem is metal package... This case causes imbalance but at the same time this case provide more profit for GM.

moreover, some players who dont live in TR uses DM.. You can check statistics and points . They use too much DM , at least we are fighting and farming..

  • Runner Do you know what the average salary is in Turkey? Also what is the average salary in the other countries ? You cannot say that dark matter is cheap in Turkey without an answer to these. According to me, dark matter is cheaper in the european union and england compared to purchasing parity.

Purchase parity is irrelevant. DM is cheap in Turkey compared to other regions. We're talking about a game here, a game that's not geo-locked. Therefore, everyone obtains the same amount of DM for the same amount of money, updated to match current exchange rates.

That's your opinion and your view of fairness. My view of fairness is when everyone pays the same x% of their income. Which means that price differences are possible between countries.

It is when .tr is one of the most active communities.

Glorious 1 is back in town. If the next couple sentences make sense to you, you are at risk.

At best, you will be baalized. At worst, your physical and mental well-being is at stake. You will likely forget what uninterrupted sleep is. Your immune system will steadily decline. Your will to fight will be broken. You will regret having invested so much into nothing.

Some are on minimum wage, others work for a foreign company and earn much more than local salaries. How would you determine how much they should pay for DM?

  • What I wonder is why there are only complaints about Lira and not other currencies. If you want to discuss this, talk about exchange rates in general being relevant for DM purchases - no need for this one-sided resentment.

Having said that, I believe you need to adapt the DM amount you get to the exchange rates, since on average, players from regions not only with high inflation, but also with low average wages, will have less purchasing power than other regions. Again, on average, players from these regions will therefore get the same amount of DM for their money as we get, relative to their puchasing power. One shouldn't "punish" the majority of players because of some big spenders.

Lastly, this would only become a huge problem if these accounts are systematically sold (traded), especially when funded by money abroad on a large scale. Other than that, you can't punish the average player.

I hate to quote myself on this... but it comes down to the phrase on average . The average is not those who earn foreign currency/salaries way above median wages. So, like with everything else in life and politics, one shouldn't act on a few exemptions and anecdotal evidence.

  • Well that's funny indeed. But you know this can be done with euros, lira, everything else, right? How much would 500 Million points be in metal packs, assuming you get 500M per pack? 1200 euros at 50% happy hour? It's doable :)

  • Gameforge sets the prices based on their own internal policies. Those policies apply EVERYWHERE and there is nothing we can do about it except complain about it.

Gameforge sets the prices in Euros because they are a German company and that's the main currency they use. Every other price that's not in euros is handled via currency exchange.

Gameforge sets the prices with complete disregard to the the server's playerbase, their location, social, political and economical status. If 100kDM is 10 Euros, it will cost the same +/-10% based on currency exchange rates, in the country of purchase. Gameforge still gets 9-11 Euros per 100k DM. Players just pay the equivalent in their own currency.

Large dips in the economy happen all the time, and players from a certain country can receive an advantage if the exchange rates are not updated.

This is where GF screwed up, badly.

But that's not the only place where GF screwed up. They turned the game into a pay-to-win.

Before, you were only getting minor advantages with Commanding Staff, as well as some quality of life stuff that just helped. Now, You literally buy yourself a fleet or a great economy.

Unlike EVE where you have to play the game and take massive risks, here there are only a handful of ways to lose your fleet and virtually no way to lose your economy. And most of those can be circumvented by having a stable gameplay schedule and an unappealing defence.

That's why, if Rank 1 has a great economy, he will always be Rank 1.

And he only got to that Rank 1, by taking advantage of GF's serious incompetence.

That would be fair game, except the rest of the players didn't.

    So what can GF do?

Ban Rank 1? - No, some other ranks may have done the same and it wouldn't be fair to them.

Refund the rest of the players that didn't purchase using severely unbalanced currencies? - Nah... that would take too long and would be a financial loss to GF.

Match DM purchases by checking the records during the exchange rate screw-up? - YES! That should be fair to everyone since the money has already been spent and it would cost GF NOTHING to make these changes.

What about after? - Match the damn exchange rates. It should be easy enough... If a currency dips too soon and too fast, block it until updated.

  • If Ogame goes to Bangladesh, Bolivia or the Central African Republic you want them charge the same as we pay? I keep saying you that it's more fair that players pay roughly the same amount of their montly income than exact the same value in Dollars, Euro's, Pounds or whatever.

Simple, look at the average income of a country in case it differs very much from our European standards.

  • If they do that, tons of people would personally always use a VPN to buy DM for dirt cheap instead.

Ogame does not have large whales as in some Asian gacha games where it's not uncommon for people to spend high 4 or even 5 digits worth of USD on some characters/equipment pieces per month.

It's a whole different level and Western games are very tame compared to Asian ones (exception of Diablo immortal, just see Sensor tower stats for their monthly revenu), where the gacha game culture and whaling to be on top are considered normal. I bet no such type of spender exist in Ogame.

  • Do not compare OGame to other games.

Do not compare OGame.ORG to OGame.TR, .RO, .US or other servers. If you want to play there and maybe have matched income-pricing in-game, go there, ORG is ORG and that means everyone pays the same amount for the same amount of DM.

Old_Fella What happened sucks the fun out of it.

But that isn't even true. Where I live I get a shade over 30,000 DM per dollar spent....my alliance mates from the UK get over 36k for that same dollar.

You might want to check that... They get 36k for a Pound Sterling...

EDIT: You should also only calculate at the base rate of DM via the same payment method.

I realize that. That's converted to my currency. I get less DM per dollar than people in the UK get for the same amount of money after conversion.

  • Sure, ok... There is bound to be some differences due to regulations, taxes and other things, but people in the UK are not getting 5-10 times the DM for the same amount of money.

  • we get the same as ppl who have pays witch are 5x higher then ours, in my country, so yea, problems like that is everywhere.. That would need some serious "accounting and store adjusting" .. So they don't even need to bother.. lately player base is less and less, and mainly same players buying the dm, unlike new ones or etc, so no need to bother with it, just move on :)
