Enable Deut to DF in Quadrantids.org

  • All new universes have Deut to DF, and it's only a matter of time before we get Deut to DF. Unfortunately, unlike in other communities, where all old universes got deut to DF by default, we're going to have to vote for it universe-by-universe in .org. Well, let's get to work then.

I hereby ask for a poll to change the settings of Quadrantids to enable Deut to DF.

Deut to DF costs no player anything (unlike DF% increases, which reduces wreckfield) and helps ensures that hunting fleets will be more profitable than farming planets (unlike Def to DF). I'm playing a miner so it doesn't really affect my account much either way, but who doesn't like to see some big bangs?

Feel free to reach out to me if you have any reservations about supporting this (imo quite procedural) vote. I'm sure other players will around in the thread to answer questions as well.

  • Yeah, I think it's time we add this.

It doesn't hurt the miners with no fleet, and cargos don't result in any deut in the df.

Seems like there's very few negatives with this, will vote yes. Let's get quad up to date.

  • I support that also. It will make things a bit more interesting for fleeters, while not affecting miners in any way.

Someone had to take the initiative I guess, thanks for that Astral Codex ;)

    Top 10s- 16

  • Let's keep the discussion to enabling Deut to DF

Feel free to have some more discussions regarding the enabling (or not) of this option for Quadrantids and we can see about having a poll to vote on it.

Astral makes a good point, would anyone like to add anything to it?

  • I would support this if u say me who u r :P

Blackmass thanks for the Signature :)

10 replies in 48h, can we get a poll? That's a lot of forum activity for quad.

We can make a separate thread if we think of anything else. More items tied into the vote for deut in df may alter the vote.

  • When I tried an Lifeforms UNI to try before we got it that UNI had it.

When I tried an Lifeforms UNI to try before we got it that UNI had it.

Yeah, it's enabled in all new universes they make now, so it's a bit silly they didn't update the old universes to have it. But oh well, better to vote for it now than to get it in a year or two I guess?

  • So chaosk , could we get the poll?

In terms of more discussion: I'm perfectly happy to generate some discussion with whatever language model you prefer, like in the Perseus thread. But it seems like there's broad agreement in favor of deut to DF, and there's not really much more to discuss.

  • I asked GPT-4 for some discussion, and even the characters in it decided to put it to a vote:

  • Jordan (Against Deut in DF): "I'm not sure, Alex. This change could disrupt the game's balance. Deuterium is a valuable resource, and including it in debris fields might make powerful players even more dominant."

    - Game balance? there is no balance in this game anymore, metal packs rule over. what debris field?? 95% of players are doing the expeditions and not even having fleet??

whole conversation has nothing to do with curent ogame, teamwork? alliances? come on lets get real LOL

Can you please stop stealing my discussion ideas and get your own? Thank you!

    on the other hand:

    1. Resource Management: Deuterium is one of the three primary resources in OGame, along with Metal and Crystal. Managing your resources effectively is crucial for the development of your empire. If you have excess Deuterium and your Metal and Crystal storages are full, converting Deuterium to a Debris Field allows you to utilize the excess resource.
    2. Hidden Wealth: Debris Fields act as hidden storage for resources. When players attack each other, a portion of the destroyed ships' Metal and Crystal is transformed into a Debris Field. By converting Deuterium to a Debris Field, you essentially hide your excess Deuterium in the form of potential resources for other players to attack and loot.
    3. Protection from Raiders: Converting Deuterium to a Debris Field can be a way to protect your resources from potential raiders. If you're not actively using Deuterium and don't want to risk losing it in an attack, converting it to a Debris Field makes it less attractive for other players to target your planet.
    4. Strategic Warfare: In OGame, player-versus-player interactions are common, and strategic warfare is a key aspect of the game. Creating a large Debris Field can serve as a lure for other players looking to raid planets for resources. This can be a part of a larger strategy to set traps or bait opponents into attacking your planet while you prepare a counter-attack.
    5. Galactic Recycling: Players in OGame often recycle their fleets and defenses to generate Debris Fields. Converting Deuterium to a Debris Field contributes to this recycling process on a larger scale, providing opportunities for players to collect additional resources from these fields.
    6. Game Economics: OGame has a dynamic in-game economy, and the value of resources can fluctuate. By contributing to the creation of Debris Fields, you indirectly influence the game's economic landscape, affecting the availability and distribution of resources throughout the universe.

Remember that the effectiveness of converting Deuterium to a Debris Field depends on your overall strategy, your position in the game, and your interactions with other players. It's a feature that adds depth to the gameplay and allows for various tactical and strategic choices.
