Uni 1 - Settings Change

    Above is a link to the post I made summarizing the arguments people were making about why deut to debris field was a good idea during the last go around with this attempt. I think the whole topic is worth a look over for those trying to make this happen again.

    The main points I would like to make regarding any upcoming poll would be:

    A) if there are multiple parts to the proposal then make sure it is presented as a package deal (there was recently a topic in another universe proposing changes meant to be a "if you give us this then we'll give you that" but the options were listed individually to vote on which completely defeated the point of the original proposal)
    B) have the arguments for/against the proposals included in the poll itself (something that was suggested to happen during the last deut to df discussion bu if t that didn't happen)

    I don't play Uni1, but I am in the Uni mentioned (Vega) and it not being a packaged deal, made it a bit of a mess. So, I'd definitely encourage you U1 players to take what Spidey is saying into heavy consideration, especially when it comes to the packaged deal part if you wanna get miners/disco on the side of fleeters asking for a bigger DF or DtDF. If I had to guess off the top of my head, you'd probably have to give them x2 peaceful.

  • As an low hybrid disco,im up for 2x friendly if not possible 10x eco with the DF increase,but again,idk how 2x friendly would help big fat miners who play as collectors. Also,the 10x eco rule sux cuz Yin will get anyway merged to uni1 or wherever. Also idc if only DF increase,either u care for ur fleet or u dont. But like i said,2x friendly would be also okay for me,cheers

    Idk then how would you push any changes,if bein said that eco increase aint possible?

    DF increase only would never get 70% of votes while most play as miners or some kind of hybrid.

    Maybe to see with GF,if its possible to get 10x eco when Yin merges somewhere or? I dont see any other possibility.


    EDIT: probably GF aint givin the option for 10x eco increase since uni1 is by far most active org community and getting the increase they would lose lots of $ via pack sales

  • I’m open to the idea of 2x friendly speed but I don’t think most of the uni would be. Think the 1 x speed is the appeal to most who are here.


    As for the 10x eco reducing packs if anything I think it would increase the pack sales but I’m also not sure that’s a good thing either though would be the easiest way to get any kind of movement for fleeters for this uni.

    The vote was close to be passed last time, and could be possible again with the 40% DF or deut to debris enabled imo, but I’m fully aware the miners want more out of it, even though we have 8x eco and 16x research already while fleet is still on base DF, base deut consumption, and speed.

  • Got ur point,however not bein an old uni1 player im willing to vote anything which will make majority of players happy.

    Thus playin as an hybrid any increase is fine for me,but my sole opinion is that most miners will ask for something other than DF increase only.

  • Sadly you are correct. When in reality increasing the DF or deut to debris does not make miners etc much more profitable in the main.


    The bulk of profit on miners comes from whats in the cargos. An extra 10% debris on cargos themselves is not worth noting for the bulk of players. Deut into debris does not effect cargos at all. Its not even worth mentioning any additional profit from sats and crawlers as its so small already and not worth targeting.


    It does have to be said though that deut into debris and increase in df % both do effect the profit on rips for the rippers though.


    All of this said and done though, this mainly impacts fleet on fleet combat and the profit from this. I know i am biost and have a sizable fleet. Though i can hit most of the uni solo and make decent profit already. Yes i would make more profit but its not profit that is stopping me hitting fleets already. its a lack of motivation from myself and targets being careful with there fleets. So this is not just about profit for me, but more about generating some more fun in the uni, some more activity and helping some of the smaller fleeters out there make more profit on other fleets of there size and have some fun.

  • I don't understand why everyone feels like there needs to be a package deal... Don't forget the uni is already VERY heavily unbalanced in favor of the miners.


    These changes are to bring some balance and encourage more activity from the fleeters in a manner that could also benefit miners.


    The proposed changes will hopefully encourage fleeters to stay out of v-mode more and to actively hunt fleets. With more fleets flying at each other (and needing to fleet save), there will be more need for deut suppliers even if deut to df is added. The percentage of deut obtained from the hit will not be enough to cover deut costs. If you think about it, the increase to the debris field could create more potential targets and create more "jobs" for miners. It's already a win for miners... No need to offer them more fluff.😛


    That all said, I am 100% a minor so it's not like I am biased. I just want to see a decision made that would be in the best interest of uni 1 and bring some life back to the game. ❤️

  • 4 failed votes in the last 2 years does that sadly. I agree its unbalanced already tipping towards miners, but hey thats how it is. Im not one to complain. Just suspect that either of the two proposed would fail due to the silent minority who dont visit the boards or see these discussions.

  • Any change in speed would be an immediate no from me. Friendly fleet speed affects fleet saves, which takes it out of the question.

    Miners have already gotten everything they want (except eco increase), there is no other change that would help pure miners.

  • I feel like some of the past failures are from lack of information. Not enough people are reading the thread, and so may not understand what they are voting for. I think miners don't understand that this change can actually be helpful to them.


    I know there are a fair number of old players who don't want ANY changes and will never vote for change, but there's not enough of them to kill the vote.


    We just need to get more people involved in the discussion and get word out. We need a uni-wide message to be sent before the vote with a link to this discussion so people can understand what they're voting for. <3

  • Without offering 10x eco as well with a debris increase (which is not even an option currently anyway) , getting any sort of debris change is just not possible. The "silent majority" of miners will always vote against it. I'm fine with any deut to debris setting though, and up to 50% debris would be fine I think for this uni

  • We currently have no plans to have more than 2 servers with 10x economy per community. This could change in the future.


    For now please discuss any changes you want to see for universe 1. If enough of you agree on a proposed change or set of changes, we could start a poll and see if it passes a 70% vote.

  • first off my suggestion is public offer universe 1 as if its going to be listed in a stock exchange, and give each player a number of shares which would be a function of age of the account, cumulative active playing time and to a lesser extent the money the player invested in it. the number of outstanding shares stays constant but players can gain or lose them depending on how the deciding variables change. then weight of a player's vote would be determined by the number of shares said player has. as things stand, one could make several new accounts just to affect poll results then delete them.


    as for the topic yes fleeters need more incentives to keep fleeting. prospect of bigger profits is one of them and another incentive would be making rebuilds less costly, and more swift. abandon the 1 ship / second limit and unleash the full power of nanites. if n13 can build a rip in say a minute, then the full power of a n13 is around 500k msu. the shipyard should be able to pump several ships every second to match its full capacity. that would make the effect of detroid use less severe on the wallet too.


    fleeters are not shit sons of the universe and they deserve better.

    Glorious 1 is back in town. If the next couple sentences make sense to you, you are at risk.

  • Given how they botched the Vega vote, I would imagine they'd split this one too, which means you'll just get 10x eco and not the other two.

  • In the spirit of following the possible server settings list i would propose the following could be voted on. I cant see any other options, and we already know all of these will fail sadly.


    30% DF With Deut to debris


    40% DF With deut to Debris


    40% DF with No Deut to Debris

  • I would definetively be in favor of an increase in DF (with or without deut). If that must come hand in hand with an increase in eco its fine with me.
