What motivates you to play?

  • If there were more features in the game that made things quicker (for example being able to send multiple expos at once, or being able to farm inactives with a single button press) then I may be encouraged to play it more

Also the extreme pay to win side of the game has kind of killed it at this point and there's not really any way back from that

  • If there were more features in the game that made things quicker (for example being able to send multiple expos at once, or being able to farm inactives with a single button press) then I may be encouraged to play it more

If you are discoverer you send expos from galaxy view so its a feature for the class i guess :D. You can send all expos in 20sec

  • Like many, these days I am here for the camaraderie, and being retired, to fill in the idle hours in a day, but my enthusiasm is on the wain.

Ignoring the wallet brigade, we all know who they are - the majority have lots of points and limited skill, and when they do attack, it's like they bring a tank to a fist fight.

The main problem is inflicted on the non-wallet players who are restricted by the increasing lengths of time it takes to develop Astro and mines etc. Who want to tie up their research for 6 months or a year and in some cases even longer.

The non-wallet player reaches the point where the next level is out of his reach and most stagnate between 12 and 14 planets, and their enthusiasm for the game starts to decline. Something needs to be done to speed up the process. OK, the wallet brigade would benefit, but so what, they are always out of reach anyway.

The other problem that reduces player numbers in any one uni is the constant appearance of new unis.

Maybe all the newer unis should be merged into one and any new unis in the future have an end date - say 60 days - at which point the #1 account has the option to move to any uni of his choice or some decent rewards from GF for the top 3. HOWEVER such a uni would need some restrictions like 1 Res pack or 1 Res Refill per 7 days.

Finally, GF needs to put some serious effort into fixing the bugs, some of which have been around weeks or even months.

The game needs to be enjoyable, not a chore.

  • The game needs to be enjoyable, not a chore.

The chore aspect is a key part of many freemium games: They are not really enjoyable but generate some frustration which will push the player to pay to remove the frustration and get a tiny endorphine fix. The player quickly get frustrated again and spends for another little endorphine shot, etc...

    Uni 3 and 1. Retired.

  • The game needs to be enjoyable, not a chore.

Im guessing you never played Korean MMORPGs longer then 30hours? xD

What you say has some sense but this game was a chore since the first days. You have to be careful how you FS, when you FS, who spies you and how big of a target you are for blind attacks coming to you due FS at same times... Pull res each day. Nothing really changed in that perspective so your comment is kinda invalid for this game. Only difference between then and now is that this game was new and had players back then, now its old and you had your fill so that is the reason why you think its chore. I attacked some newer players becasue they were profitable due to the fact they dont even properly FS but they return and play again, do you think this game is a chore for them? And if its not enjoyable they sure wouldnt come back to build more stuff...

  • Wallet fleets have made this game unplayable for most , kill the MDS. Limiting pack play is pointless almost to ask. With removing moon destruction's you can somewhat get playerbase livelier , anything else is childishly idiotic.

  • Noticed this thread yesterday and been thinking on how to reply.

There is no simple sollution to this question. a Simple reward system is not the answer.

If GF wants to change the blue shielded players they need to be prepared to change some things but also listen to the players in a certain degree.

Some respect to the players and tool developers goes a long way.

Currently we are just some statistic on a spreadsheet some GF Suite gets hard on.

This game is made by GF but runs by its players and community.

This game never needed any reward system to function.

GF made this problem themselfs. they made cheating legal. Fuck around and find out. Actions have consequences.

  • What motivated me to return?

To see the changes after 10 years of being gone roughly.

Comrade I use to have with my Uni1 Players. (I didn't return to that Uni as of yet)

    What motivated me to play?

Competing against myself mostly. Improving to play how I want to play.

Even though I don't play ideally on how I build my Empire. It is how I want to do it, and I have tons of fun with it. I accept critiques on it, however I politely remind them, this is how I want to play the game. As while I'm able to play in a slow setting (x1 peaceful flight), I'm all game for it. However, I do not have time to play in faster settings because of my work/life balance, including OGame. Makes this harder, and life has a priority. I do not want to be on this game 3-4 hrs a day, instead pop in every 6-12 hrs and enjoy what I do. Atm, I'm waiting for another Uni to pop open with the settings I want and progress, unfortantely my last uni decided to migrate from my x1 Peaceful setting to x4 peaceful flight time. Even though I know Uni1 is always available for me, I kind of want to start from scratch again and not in almost 20 yr old Uni.

What I would like to see from Gameforge overall?

I would like to see them actually listen to their playbase and take their advice from time to time. I know this will never happen, but even creating a Uni where Whalers can't prosper instead it's based on competition. Even if it's just a timed universe where it only lasts for a year and known to shut down. I'm betting odds, that is a way to get some players addicted and play in Uni where there is Whalers and will compete and play in competition Universes that might e offered maybe every few years? (I wouldn't suggest his yearly, instead like every couple years if it's a year long Uni only) I know, they won't make as much money from that Uni. but sometimes drawing in players and getting them hooked will cause them to actually pay towards the game later on in another Uni.

So far from what I've seen since my return:
Gameforge only cares about how they can earn their next dollar. They take some feedback, but that's very seldom. They still deploy bugged updates without getting rid of them first.
They do not work with 3rd Party Developers that makes their game easier (this is understandable but they don't have developers that try to improve their own game and make it more playable from their side, instead they rely on 3rd party to improve their game) - They do have nice ideas occassionally.

No matter how you build your life, as while you have fun. That's all that matters. The same method can be applied to building your Empire.

  • Much better events.

You look at every other online game and their events are much much better, they encourage people to play at the time of the event, they offer good rewards for participation (not an lf booster to save me 6 hours on a 2 week research). if VM is active, you're not in the event, simple.

To go with events, better alliance utilisation. So we can ACS? But how many do? If you don't....there's not much real use being in an alliance apart from the small benefits they offer. I'm very lucky to be in an alliance where we chat and get on with each other, but I wonder how many alliances never even speak? So have events aimed at alliances, where we have to work together to get better results. Also for alliances, why can't we have alliance research? Similar to LF tech but for alliances, expensive so everyone would have to "donate" for it to be worthwhile, but then every player gets a boost. BUT, maybe, rather than having to donate res....you get "alliance points" to donate every x amount of minutes...so actually the more active alliances can progress much faster than the vmode warrior alliances, again actually encouraging activity rather than making vmode so simple.

Both the above would probably need to include a "computer player" aspect. I'm not saying fill the universe with loads of free farms etc, but for these specific events it would be needed....otherwise we end up where the whales just bash everyone to win again. The other major issue is that the above would need a lot of effort into the coding side, because I'm not just saying let's have another event where we make you build 15 ion cannons that you really don't want....I'm talking let's go hunt the aliens / pirates that hit us, base it on player size but regulate rewards so they are comparable to the size of acct etc....I mean I'm not talking let's put back in insane expo cr's where you can farm billions every hour. It would need to be limited, require effort from the player, the player has to be active, but the rewards would need to be good enough to encourage this also.

The other thing that is drastically needed is an overhaul of the current p2w system. It's so easy. Now, I have no issue, if these guys want to spend loads on this game? Great, I can't afford to and wouldn't either way, it's not my challenge......BUT I understand these guys are important to the game, and lets be honest the game is there to make money. If it didn't make money, it would be dead in the water by now. But, is it right that a p2w player can buy a few hundred rips, send them on MD with 100% chance to blow my moon, and then send 405678745456784 bc at the same time? That's not really p2w, that's pay 2 bully. So make MD's relative to eco of the server at least? I remember when I first played (u6.org) that graviton was considered really expensive, it was such hard work to execute making sure your sats weren't crashed first, and even after that rips were very expensive. Now even the most basic eco can produce a rip every few hours. So why, would it be the same in a 1x uni to blow up a moon, as it would in an 8x uni? Surely, the 8x uni should be at least 8x more expensive? Now sure, it wouldn't necessarily eliminate this, and for the right fleet yes it's still worth it, but maybe they would think again if it's going to cost them $100 a moon instead of $10.

  • I returned to game few months ago, played few times before...
enjoying the game, but I see players get 200mil points in a day is bit too much. but personally do not care about stat so whatever..
and why all these speed ups, economy x8, fleet x5 etc... it is the same all players will progress the same you just get closer to endgame and have 23458575635345BC... did you try to put one uni same as it was first uni ever all speed x1...
Uni recommendation test... speed all x1, everything x1... pay only for commanders and speed ups (so gameforge can earn some money)... and I love 9 planet mode no astro...

and if you ever decide to do this uni advertise it for few months... you will see difference it would be firework :D

I just love the game progress, but in 2024 is really fast :)

  • you try to put one uni same as it was first uni ever all speed x1...

Universe Dorado used to be 1x everything but it got merged a while back. Now .de community has the most active and probably the only permanent 1x universe.

Did you forget about Uni1? That is almost a 20 yr old Universe. Or are you talking about x1 Economy/Research as well?
