Hello Uni 1.
Once again we once again hit the 6 months threshold shortly for settings change. and seeing as we were so close last time at 69% i thought it would be worth revisiting this idea once more. Any discussions around what server settings people would be open to think about etc. Is there some way we can look to gain the extra 3 votes that would of been needed last time for instance?
My proposal would still be 50% DF for the vote, However am open to discussions or looking at
40% DF
Deut to DF and 30% DF remains.
Display MoreHello,
Here are the results:
- 30% DF: 97 votes (31%)
- 50% DF: 215 votes (69%)
Total votes: 312
There will be no change
A few good points from the previous vote that was made for everyone to think about.
Reason for 50% Fleet into Debris Field (DF) vote:
- Every other EN server universe has adopted 50% DF as the minimum standard
- Encourages more focus on hunting other fleeting-style players due to higher profits
Concerns:
Q: Won't this mean more profits off of cargoes, crawlers, and solar sats?
A: Yes, but the profits off of crawlers and solar sats still won't be worth the effort compared to the deut cost to send under most conditions (if you are running your whole eco off of solar sats then you're already a target so nothing changes). Cargo fleets get attacked for the resources carried by the ships so there would be no extra interest in targeting them compared to now.
Q: How does this impact mining style players?
A: With more metal and crystal in the universe, as well as the recently added limits on the resources larger players can "gift" (500 mill res sent per week), this change is expected to increase demand for deuterium traders, giving mining style players more significance in the overall game eco system.
Q: Doesn't this give an advantage to fleeting style play?
A: Since the addition of Lifeforms, fleeting style players have gained some boosts to ship speed but defensive style players have gained boosts to "protected resources" that can't be raided and limiting the
size of debris fields (depending on buildings/races chosen). These bonuses seem to have been designed with 50% DF in mind, being too powerful in a 30% DF system.
Q: Won't this mean the giant fleets will only grow bigger?
A: Most top players put money into the game and aren't likely to be caught by anyone other than each other anyway. If anything this makes it more viable for smaller players who like to fleet on occasion to grow more rapidly or to rebuild more quickly through their activity. It promotes more active play and more ability for smaller players to build fleets capable of combating the raiding fleets of larger players.
This change is meant to encourage more active play within Universe 1 to help keep the game thriving and alive. Even if you don't see the benefits to your own play style, please consider the benefits this change has for the overall community to ensure your account continues to grow in an active universe.
