Why are people neglecting Lifeforms?

  • I'll start with the fact that my observations are purely based on Uni1 active players.

Recently i started a swap from pure miner with a small turtle shell project to fleeter and naturally i got a bit curious what my neighbours around me are doing.

Spied around here and there and my verdict is that majority of people are either completely ignoring lifeforms or their tech selections are so random that i have no clue wtf they are doing. As in any case there are always some exceptions where you just want to grab a piece of paper & pencil and write stuff down.
I'm on stance that LFs was very fun and extremely powerful & versatile addition to the game hence i'm pretty dumbfounded by spy reports that i've seen.

    • How is situation on other servers?
    • Any ideas why is this a case?
      • Ogame purists who will treat game as it was created since the time of dinosaurs who roamed these hallowed grounds?
      • Lack of adaptation skills?
      • Too complex?
      • Small percentages on techs confusing?
    • While at it, any thoughts on underrated techs aside from resource boosters, deut consumption reductions, ship speed and ship specific boosters?

  • Yeah I've seen a lot of people lower in the highscore that dont have any lifeforms...

Im playing Yin, 15 planets 500m pts total, currently 24th overall, 22 eco, 21 res, 17 mil (virtually all from expo finds except few rips and recs), 28 lf.
In LF, 36th in buildings and 20th in techs.

Not sure what people higher than me are building, all my payback periods in LF buildings are >100 weeks... Maybe unlocking the 4 remaining T3 techs will give me a bit of points, but that's it, there is nothing else to build...

LF techs are a bit lower but close, >80 weeks.

Mines payback is >80 weeks, so now I'd rather invest in that.

Research? HAHAHA, Plasma 200 weeks, astro 460 weeks

  • Probably because at face value it can appear much less beneficial than it is in reality and especially for new players it is a system that I imagine can come across as rather confusing/overwhelming.
If I use myself as an example when I played my first LF enabled universe I spent a lot of time reading out of game resources to find out how different aspects of LF works and interracts with other mechanics.

  • I suspect too, that at first Lifeforms (Lx in my initialisms) did seem rather pointless and just eye-candy, if even that. That was my initial impression as well.

But then I started clicky clicking (as it seemed at first) and I started noticing benefits, and started digging in to what choices I could make to benefit my playing style, and there were MANY! And yeah, some of it is just eye candy...... but my Laerg Cargos now have a capacity of 127 vs the orignal 25 units and they're getting faster too!

So if anyone dismissed them early, as I did, and just stuck with their decision stubbornly or simply not aware, that could explain the non-Lx players along with the other reasons.

  • I think its a mixture of complexity and time

Lifeforms are just confusing for a lot of people.
I was completely against them when they were added as i just wanted the classic ogame experience and didn't like change.

At first they seem like a lot of work for very small boosts.

Time is also a big thing I think, its far easier to just select what your given or press random than to use valuable fleet slots to send life form missions out.

For a miner build with rocktal selected you have to spend a total of 3200 artifacts per planet to complete the best miner build. Depending on how may missions you do and your luck that could take you a few days of a few weeks.

I'm closing in on 400m points of life forms and just hit 100m lifeform techs points in uni 1. I also have a small account in yin and in wurren to try diffrent lifeforms and lifeform tech builds out.

  • I mostly agree with Captain Phasma

What I see on ogame.de are people who claim that they rather chill and play for nostalgic value / because they are used to playing

anything new is considered rather confusing or strenuous thus its ignored
