Is there max buff to energy production?

  • Hello, im back at ogame after couple of years, I see lot is changed, lots new ships and lifeforms.

I have decided to choose rocktal race for my planets, they have one building that boosts energy production on planet ( disruption chamber ) and if I add two techs in tier 1 tree ( volcanic batteries and geothermal power plants ) , all three combined could give me whoping energy production boost of 115,5% at the levels i calculated. now before i dive into this with time and resources, i need it to be clarified to me, is base energy production on the planet ( solar sats, power plants, fusions ) limited how much it can be boosted with techs/buildings, or is it unlocked for us without the limit?

  • All buffs stack atop of each other. If you are asking if the cap is 100%, no it is not. It goes to 150-200%. However i would say you dont need energy techs at all. Everyone plays fusion reactor.

Just for example if you wanna put stuff into calculator and see the investment. I have fusion lvl 22 (80% usage)+ disruption chamber lvl 25 and it covers all energy for M47 C35 D40 mines + LF buildings M23 C11 D11. Oh and my energy tech is lvl 23. Remember to keep energy tech +/- 1lvl difference from fusion and you are all good.

I am slot 8 player, i don't know if there is some difference that slot 15 players would recommend.

i play ogame since old design, my wish was always to do winter expedition, and to get rid of solar sat economy.

i have done some starting calculations, and i see it could get relative cheaply fusions going with some help of solar plants on lvl 30 to sustain high mines of 45 40 42 on every planet on slot 15. solar power plant aint really needed, but i have enough planet fields, so who cares.

about energy tech, yeah, I figured it out, it best works in range of equal, one under, oder one above fusion reactor.

I have read somewhere here on forum that there are some buff limits, i think in fleet speed and few more? could you tell me which ones?

  • I am 99% sure though there aren't any limitation to resources buffs which energy tech also is. However i don't have lifeform energy techs so maybe someone else will come and confirm it. I had them when i started but i realized they are useless.

I think limitations are only for this type of techs. You can see in the image saying "max %"

edit; oh btw, i think like 1-2 lvl higher fusion will completely negate the "buff" you get from those techs within 3-6months of play. You could decide if its worth it but i just don't see it becuase fusion is really powerful, especially as levels go. But you decide ofcourse :P. However i think your deut buff might be worth more in the end then that energy tech on slot 1 so idk :D

edit2: so what im saying. Lets look at this difference. 118k for 2 levels. So you would need energy tech about +75% to get same benefit as +2 levels of fusion which means you are losing deut production on slot 1 and potentionally on slot 6 where those 2 techs energies are. You could try to have only 1 energy tech but you'll need to heavily invest into LF to achieve it. So basically its up to you to decide wheter you'd prefer more deut production and is it worth it or not. In the long term it is obviusly better to produce more since the higher fusion goes the more energy you'll have which will furthermore negate benefits since you'll start to have too much energy compared to mines you could build xD. I think im overcomplicating...but in my opinion if you are moving to slot 15, you should take deut production and not energy xD

  • did you factor in, that with energy boost of 115%, i would have double energy production on that lvl 22 fusion, and could run same fusion lvl on like 50% and it would consume 50% less deut per hour? ofc im not sure it could beat metal crystal deut tech buff

  • I did not do the math. If you wanna do it i can tell you that my 22 fusion at 100% spends 14.3k deut to operate :). I produce on slot 8 with lvl 40 deut mine 182k/hour (flat deut mine value with buffs im at 400k with fusion cost). So if, instead of energy buff of 75% you manage to get deut to 50% i still think you gain much more right? Especially considering lifeform techs are global and work on all your planets together which means you are getting exponential growth in production compared to fusion operating cost.

Just so you get more perspective, next level of metal mine for me, level 48, consumes 4800 energy, deut lvl 41 consumes 4000 energy. So you can see why i said "its not worth going for energy buff". +1 lvl of fusion would bring you so much energy you could build probably 5-10 mine levels and have enough xD. You can put all of this info to ogame calculators and see how it works out. I can tell you know that lvl 23 fusion for me is pretty cheap so in the end i could get it to lvl 24 which would probably make me use 40% of energy for mines i have.

Short term it could work, but i think it "stops" working very quickly. Fusion is a bit expensive early on but if you are playing this game the right way, which is going discoverer :tongue3:, you won't have problems with resources

edit: picture for you to see "buffs" and consumption etc
