OGame , Improvement , Web3 , Crypto

    I dont get time to play ogame anymore, but I hope someday again I start playing (I log in my account from time to time and also the board forum to check on how everyone is doing)


    I have so many topics in my mind and would really love to get feedback


    1. How can we improve ogame (so that Gameforge also keeps making money to sustain the cost of servers, and also the game is profitable for the company, so they dont shut it down )

    2. In the last 6 - 7 years graphs the game has lost so many players, and we keep merging universes

    3. Web3 gaming is taking a lot of players away from ogame because of the play-to-win concept ( Can ogame also follow the concept to attract more players ? )

    4. Can Crypto or NFT be a part of ogame in the future and will that be a good thing

  • The problem here is the amount of work Gameforge would need to do on ogame for me to consider spending money on it again is far more than what will ever happen.

    As soon as resource packs were added to the game, I lost interest

    It just seems to be getting more haevy pay to win from there

    Then we started getting items with 7 day timers on which is ridiculous


    In all honesty, the game needs to be brought back to what it used to be. Simple, fun, and minimal pay to win. This is what will attract significant players again

  • I agree with most of what you said, heavy P2W destroyed the game when it first got introduced. Most of us started playing games in age where p2w was not a thing and we all knew only thing that matters is how much of your time and dedication you invest into it, and then climbing the ranks had some meaning and making trouble for someone else just to climb that one rank higher was a thing... Now there is no achievement in this game anymore, 80% of HoFs on forum and hits are done with bought fleet, those hits would never occur if they didnt buy their fleets or bought packs to pump the speeds of their ships, so whats the point of starting to play this game except nostalgia? :kpinch: Why do you think diablo 4 was such a failure of a game, im sure you've seen clips (not just from that game though) where people invested 50-100k usd and then que with people who are f2p and one shot them , then proceed to whine how there are no players to play with after a month :confused::lol:

    Oh btw while im also on topic; imagine if you put 12h only penalty that you can't use combat fleet after leaving VM, HOW MANY LESS HITS WOULD THERE BE? hahhahaha


    I will strongly disagree that you can make ogame "alive" again. I also disagree that if you remove p2w that new players would come. Only thing that would happen is that maybe old ones would return but kids 15-20yo joining this boring game in the numbers we witnessed 15 years ago is just not happening. Once you learn this game a bit you realize how boring it actually is. The mechanics are extremely simple and only thing this game requires is dedication to make a hit and nowadays no one in their right mind would spend time watching others 24/7 to make a hit because in the end it won't be achievement since the hit is done with bought fleet :shrug:.


    Too much to fix in this game, its broken beyond repair. No one in their right mind would wanna play it :wink3:

    Aren't those two contradictory to one another? Im guessing if any NFTs are introduced there would have to be even more options to buy stuff.

  • I believe change is important

    The dark matter packages were introduced for people who take 2 -3 month vacations or sometimes take 2 year gap off time or when they get crashed, so they can rebuild quickly. It was used competitively by spending way too much, but in any case, I dont have any problem with packages and DM

    because I still can play the game without packages / DM


    The thing that I have a problem with is the player base, which keeps decreasing every year


    And now about P2W ( almost most games in the last 3 - 4 years or more are now P2W


    So the thought of the fact that if anyone plays and shows skill and stays at the top they can get a prize ( This tactic really has attracted a lot of players )


    Buying and Selling accounts, for example, has been done in ogame for decades, but why not let's make it legal and Gameforge itself take a 10% cut, and the whole thing can happen in the forum?

    Or even selling ress as well


    World of Warcraft is a very famous game and there is ingame trading or buying and selling accounts done there

    They host tournaments with huge prize money as well

    So all in all, people do engage alot and they still do and have fun


    More game examples: Clash of Clans, and there are many others, PUBG, where tournaments are done every month


    When I saw the stickers / Avatars of ogame players thats when i thought about NFT zajeb

    might make all accounts valuable in their own way tbh

    I agree with most of what you wrote, only thing i would mention is difference in games... games you mentioned are attractive games, fast paced, you immerse yourself into them and you play them. OGame is not that, it is totally different genre... also when people realize they need to put alarms up for a game that is a big NO for anyone trying to find a casual game to play :squint:


    Also regarding wow, lets be real, there is entire industry mafia that sells gold so not so sure it is a good example. And it is not legal in wow to buy gold from 3rd party which happens most often from what i know. There is actually a video regarding that . Also wow entirely different game, there is nothing similar with games you mentioned to ogame. If you wanna make a tournament or any kind of competition you gotta make it f2p and fair which most games with tournaments do have. And GF will never allow it because they think in terms of short term profits and not game lifespan and sustainability since they can always buy/make other games which will bring them more money.


    Most of all what type of tournament could ogame even be? If you make x20 speed server and x100 economy for 30 days i doubt people would play it because in the end you don't require skill to play this game, what you require is time which means the one who is most online will likely "win". Also ogame is not "streamable" because you would get sniped :D so there goes your free marketing to younger generations. Also mobile app is aweful, it is a total miss, it is clear as a sunny day that the person who made the application didn't even open an account on ogame to try and play it for a bit or asked any information on importance of things.


    Honestly this topic, again, happens every 30-60 days right?Now that i think about it i don't know why i bothered commenting :ninja:

  • I know ogame can't have tournaments like the other games

    But it can at least be rewarding in some other sense


    All games, no matter what, new or old, are somewhere where online gaming is rewarding

    But our ogame is not


    So, which means we are somewhere definitely staying behind the trend


    The current trend is play to earn and we are stuck here in ogame with Pay to win :D

  • there is also a change in generations. MMOs used to be a thing but its difficult to get the same engagement today from younger people, they are just not as hardcore players as our generation used to be, at least not in the sense of grinding your way to the top. Ogame is a game of the past with old mechanics that really doesnt fit with new generations mentality.
