I left right after that, another 400m deut gone for nothing. The CR above is the rest of my answer.
That visit wasn't a random one. I've been watching him every single day for the past few weeks, spying at any hour, and I mean literally any hour. In all that time his fleet sat on the same moon. Never the one 1 ss away, always that one. Which mattered a lot, because this was a moondestroy mission from the very beginning.
It was a very long night. Or a short one, depends how you count it, because I didn't sleep much. I sat on him for hours around the window I knew he was going to fleetsave in. Sent the mobile, recalled it. Sent it, recalled it. Many many times, until I saw the green light and left it there. From that point it went fast: built the jumpgate and instant-finished it with Krakens from Import/Export and the Artifacts events, jumped, and sent the MD without hesitating. Me and Hermes sent an attack behind it to protect my RIPs.
The RIPs landed, the moon went off, and out came the easter egg: his full fleet, returning in 4 hours. That was the first surprise of the night. I was almost certain he'd be back around 50 minutes after the moon was blown. I was wrong there.
I want to be explicit on one fact: this attack was my own idea. I didn't hesitate. I did the jumpgate, I jumped, I sent the RIPs. Only after that I called for help, and Hermes replied instantly. When I came back in the morning to check on them, Artemisa was joining our little party too. Anyone who wants revenge is a good player to fly with, that's a rule.
Then the second surprise. Artemisa locked the attack and invited all of us, and none of us could join the ACS. All 4 invited, all blocked. Maybe it's the new update, I don't know, but it's the oddest thing I've ever seen in this game and a first time ever for me. In a moment of panic I locked the attack again with a small cargo (it survived, lol) and invited Hermes, Brook and Puppami La Fava. We sent at the very last minute, and I really thought we wouldn't make it. Everyone got their ships in except Artemisa, who was 1 ss away.
That bug also made us miss some recys, so we didn't harvest the whole debris field. Too bad. It happens, part of the game, we take it.
Since then I've received every kind of message. People congratulating me, people thanking me, and people clearly trying to provoke me. Some from players sitting in v mode, some from players who came out of v mode just for this one hit. So let me ask something back: is it my fault that the target made a dirty fs when he'd been hunted openly for hours? I have my answer.
People got emotional this time, and I see a bright side in that. It means the universe is starting to galvanize again. Let's do this!!!
For the rest, there isn't much to say. I saw an opportunity for an MD and I took it. Call me a p2w player, which I'm not, say whatever you want, I don't care. It was fun to do and I'd do it many many times again, even if it's hard to MD with the current nerf. Don't hate the player, hate the game.
I'm going v mode for a while after this one. I need a break too.
