Actually it's not a bad idea in my opinion.
There were years without marketing. Finally, there is a movement in that department. Good for them.
There is yet to see if this will result in attracting players and then finally invest in fixing bugs and other issues.
Also, not a bad idea for this in the future :
resources, DM, officers, rewards or anything that goes into the inventory and can be used at a later date.
Can i get any of that by signing up to this server and completing seasonal achievements? Can i get a way to spend achievement points?
Supernoob is not in the wrong for not seeing the point. It just takes workaround to get to the realizing anything, unfortunately.

Most Jedi as you mentioned are playing Eris therefore lack of focus is an opportunity.
As you mentioned infamous trash talker over many years of playing and auction hog is luckily absent. Catching him is a delight in form of few written words that always pinch the heart when he sends his crows. ( Linea should know - "Balkan!" )

Dorado type uni - funnily there was a "No emo" alliance there with Balkan trash talkers ( ahh that duo amongst them was legendary) and Yoda ( different alliance)
