the temperature only changes by 10 within 4-12, in positions 1-3 and 13-15 it changes by 40 degrees per slot, so there isnt any temperature overlap for them. that is current ingame. its the original reason why deuterium production increased with higher positions

the bonus production isnt the only problem, the position 8 is also the biggest possible planet. And you need at least a hundred tries to get anything good sized. There should be an option to colonize the biggest possible planets if you want too, right now its blocked because the biggest metal bonus is on the same spot and means people colonize and stay there. Maybe if position 4 or 7 could have as big planets as position 8, or just another position i dont care, just that it is an option to get the biggest possible planets which right now is unavailble, even considered if it was possible to be inactive for 2 months just to get out of my current universe(unfortunately not).
i play on French Tucana(Eco x10, 7 galaxies and the target universe thrice now), and if you want a chance of a position 8, you need to wake up at 3 am and spam galaxy update until deleted planets are refreshed you can get maybe one if you are lucky and you know where one will become available, people literally use the relocation system to reserve slots to keep them open for later colonization.

19k mark i take you mean diameter. the goal i set out to accomplish
With 22.55% that would mean your theoretical max was 408. also wow, you got 75% kaelesh enhancement bonus O.O (just how big is your account, points and number of planets)
(all following assumes a +30 universe field bonus)
honestly it would be statiscally much more easy for you to get a 19k+ diameter planet, i have a 20.5% bonus so my theoretical max is 396, yours would have been 408.
the 19k mark is 391 fields.
thank you for your numbers, makes it easier to estimate how lucky/unlucky i have been. interesting to see that the keepers are consistantly 7-8 below theoretical max.
Imperial Guard what standard deviation did you use for your calculations?

turns out, it really was hubris
... somehow after more than 1000 attempts later, after that size 388 in december, the second biggest i have found is only size 384.
the formula may say maximum size is 396, instead in practice, some 10 sizes lower.
-
rare colonization as in most people dont get to colonize a new planet everyday
19000 diameter equals 361 fields(391 in tucana since +30 fields), used diameter because having to change back and forth for planet sizes in my spreadsheet is annoying and the percentages applies to diameter not fields.
The proposal isnt so much about bigger planets, the biggest would still be the same, its mostly about fixing the problem with lowered opportunity to pursue the biggest possible, since it can take so many tries.
The proposed change is the smallest change to correct the problem, i could come up with. and i think it is more in line with the current game than some radical ideas, like sending multiple colony ships in a single attempt and get the biggest or something like genshin, where every attempt will also sleightly increase your chance of a rare item, but in this case a big planet.
-
Let be honest here discoverer is used for better expeditions results mainly, not the rare colonization, the value of the discoverer tokens stays the same, especially since you already get them for free in the rewards so often. got 10 in my inventory, along with 10 collector and 4 general tokens
and the "triple digits" is unfortunately hardearned real life experience, with trying to get a planet with a diameter 19000+ or within 5 fields of the biggest possible position 8 planet i would be able to currently get.
even half given up and been colonizing position 7 looking for the biggest size there as a compromise, with about 120 attempts per day

Proposition
1. increase the base max planet size of position 7(248) and 9(246) to match position 8(252)
2. Increase the base minimum planet sizes for position 7, 8 and 9 by 30
Why?
Since the last large scale change for colonizing around 2011, several other updates have reduced or otherwise made colonizing new planets worse. Colonizing can already take triple digits attempts to get one of the better planets, while available position 8 have diminished to near non-existant on some servers, with below 10 free position 8 slots available.
1. the addition of % larger planets on colonization, creates a larger range of planet sizes, reducing the chance you get the better ones proportionally.
i.e base game position 8 has a difference of 96 fields between the biggest and the smallest sizes, but with just the easy 15% larger planets from class and alliance, the range becomes something like 120.
2. Mergers have forced more long term players into fewer galaxies, while generally considered good, also means more position 8 slots are permanently filled
3. Some servers have fewer than 9 galaxies further reducing the number of position 8 available.
4. position 8 has the biggest planets, and is best for colonization, but is now also meta for metal production due to the 35% metal bonus on position 8, making many players stay instead of moving the planets.
-
yep that should be correct.
the only trouble is that everyone wants a position 8, i think gameforge should probably go in and adjust so position 7 and 9 had the same max size possible, since they made the biggest so rare that you need 500 tries just to have a chance of getting 1 really good planet.
or perhaps a rolling chance or maybe ability to send multiple colony ships in a single mission and get the biggest one

Look on discord. It's possible to get a 500 field planet.
Colonizeable aka what you can get foundationally, i am not counting terraformers, field boosts and kaelesh bio modier.
But link or picture that discord, you are welcome to prove me wrong
Just pure what can you colonize, with the bonusses from alliance, class and kaelesh enhancement
-
because you are forgetting, i also got kaelesh lifeforms at lvl 77 and am doing humans on all 16 planets for the metropolis building tech bonus.
for a~15-16% further increase to those 48% from just kaelesh enhancement
-
16 planets with kaelesh enhancement lvl 15, humans so metropolis bonus. total is from OGame Tracker
10% of that is ~5.5%
additively is the lowest possible outcome, so therefore likely how Ogame does it,
10% from class, 5% from Alliance and additional 5.5% from Kaelesh enhancement for a total of 20.5%
Pos 8 is the biggest possible planet at base 252 fields. The 20.5% applies to diameter. and the formula is fields = (diameter/1000)^2
So max is diameter=(Squareroot of 252 )times 1000 = 15874
15874 times 1.205 = 19128
(19128/1000)^2=365 fields is base max. then you can add universe bonusses. I am playing on a server with +30 fields
-
Mate 388 fields is pretty good for start up planet
didnt keep it, i am willing to keep anything with a diameter above 19000, which is 391+ fields.
unfortunately there was a merger of many universes into the one i play one, so only about 30 position 8 slots are open every 2nd day. gotten about 300-400 attempts so far.
is the formula for determining the planet diameter when colonizing known?
because there is a 200 km diameter gap between the max and what i have seen so far, and with a spread of ~4080 km diameter between the smallest possible and the biggest possible diameter, So i dont think the chance is even for every possible size. but from previous mass colonizing 200 attempts was enough to get the max possible size of a position 3.
Does anyone here have experience in getting a max field position 8 planet and how many attempts it took them
-
-
got the Class(10%) and alliance(5%) bonus. along with a 55.45% kaelesh enhancement. (playing on a server with +30 fields)
I have tried 150-200 times now, and the biggest planets i have found on position 8 is only 379(found twice so far)
I know Fields =( planet diameter/1000)^2, and that the colonization bonus is applied to the planet diameter.
position 8 have a max of 252 field, translating to a planet diameter of sqrt(252)*1000 = 15874.5, applying a 20.5% total bonus to the diameter should result in a new max size of about 19128.
(19128/1000)^2= 365 fields +30 universe bonus for 395
Is there a hidden limit in the code or am i just unlucky so far, seeing nothing closer than 16 from the theoretical?

Display More
20 planets is astrophysics 37, thats 5 trillion metal and deuterium plus 10 trillion crystal in total
And your point is?
If you do a little research you can find more, i'll leave just one here with 20, but have people with more.
https://www.mmorpg-stat.eu/bas…r=100829.dat&univers=_164
Go outside and explore
doesnt mmorpg also record relocations for awhile. adding "extra" to the planets to the count

alot of these achievements are downright impossible.
just look at the time required and costs. it's cheaper to go for astro 31 than do some of the more basic achievements
Own 20 planets... unless they are planning to add planet boosters, like bronze +1 planet, silver +2 planets, gold +3 planets and platinum +4 planets. thats not possible in a human lifetime, nor even possible to buy with money
-
When universes are merged, i suggest that the lifeform discoveries cap, is set to the higher of the two universes.
-
Is there going to be any ingame bonusses for achieving certain achievements, like +1% metal, or certain planet skins giving a boost to crystal mines. Or is it all just cosmetic
-
The bigest planets getting the bigest bonus is the wrong way around. You should either get lots of metal, or lots of fields.
the biggest planets are currently position 8 and you already get the biggest bonus there. So i dont understand your argument
this is crazy. The numbers need to be adjusted but I’m otherwise with you. There’s no need for an 85% bonus for metal. I’d argue 30% is too much. There are many ways to get larger planets between disco, alliance class and now lifeforms.
Overall I do like the idea as everybody is able to achieve this. Even for us big point folks who would gladly sacrifice a little DM and a well established planet if it meant making significantly more resources at the end of the day.
My suggestion would be to have 30-35% be at the top end of the range.
as far as i know, about 363 fields is about the max people can get vanilla. thats with 10% disco and 5% from alliance, along with another 5% from lifeforms(aka 50% disco enhancement). And getting the max sized position 8 planet. And i agree the percentage could be tweaked, i just threw out a number and formula. I think 35% should still be rewarded for a large planet or maybe a bit better. no more than 50% at the biggest.
