I'm a tad confused as to why there was even a vote. The other 2 universes were set to 60% by default.

I don't get why miners would care about DF increase, if anything it benefits them.
Fleeters will no longer have hyper focus on big miner cargo fleets because a super advanced hit is more profitable in most cases and it's easier to catch compared to miners doing a day long FS to random moons, etc... Maybe this is something miners should consider as well.
With higher DF it means that fleeters will be spending more deut, so in turn they can sell more deut and maybe at a higher rate.I agree with you, but now you've definitely given them a nosebleed.

we were wondering if the slow speed and 30% df might put a few people off
If I'm not mistaken, there will be a vote to increase the df% immediately after the merge. Lets hope people vote sensibly.
