Actually you made more impact in this subforum than you realize nanogram. You just won't get credit or validation for it. It may not be a bad business strategy and policy (validating), beacuse then it's not abused and overcrowded with threads.
I particularly liked the thread:
Implementing voting in-game would bring visible involment.
Any improvement,change needs time.
Hey Shepherd, yes, I've seen your posts in most of threads and discussions I participated in as well, and I've agreed / liked the posts many times I believe.
You seem to be the complete opposite of me regarding criticism / feedback, in a way where you're polite and friendly, and as Arcane said, I'm BSing a lot / being toxic.
Maybe it's a professional deformation thing.
But thank you for the acknowledgment.

Literally not what I said but okay.
nanogram whatever non BS you post is evidently lost in rest of the posts which is swimming in it. Even this thread offers nothing
Ye, true.
I'm probably looking at oGame and GF from a more development/IT perspective, where you have to be frustrated if one minor thing isn't working as planned, let alone stuff like this.
I'm referring to the stuff GF pulled on oGame these past couple of years, seems so amateur... But ye, I get the point.
I'm trapped in the captivity of negativity.
This thread kinda makes sense, it serves to point out that none of the feedback here is read, even if it is, it's never applied ingame.
Same thing happened with stomt, which was supposed to serve as kind of a feedback tool for game development, but same as here, non of the good suggestions were taken, and stomt vas shutdown pre-v8 I think?
Yeah...

Have you ever thought maybe that the manner in which you constantly post bullshit means people don't take you seriously?
Feedback from discord has been pretty positive at points because it's given in a positive manner.
You've constantly said you no longer play because of the state of the game. Maybe just give it up now, and leave the board too
It ain't all bullshit.
There is some good stuff if you get the bigger picture.
We're all different sorts of people, looking at the game from our own perspective.

Oh I see voldemort the GA for .us left.
Lemme guess, they tried to give some feedback on v9, GF said fu and threw them out.
Same happened with master yoda and that other GA here years ago.
I think very bugged v9 is coming within a week.
Yep, this confirms my theory:
Everyone say welcome to catastrophe!
Mkay it wasn't 1 week.
It was 2.

You already closed stomt, you might aswell close this useless subforum.
-
My guess that this is just a server to test the game on.
It's gonna be a shitfest bugged uni which they'll use to fix the version (hopefully), and make profit from idiots "exploiting" something they found with DM.
And my guess is that there's a lot of it to be found.

I know that
Again, I doubt that the engine is made in a client compatible language. Portage is always possible but it's not so easy for a lot of reasons.
Also, it's speculative, maybe GF wants to keep her code secret.
I agree with you that it's a very good idea, I just think it's a little complicated otherwise it might have already been done.
Or I'm a little too naive, that's possible too
Dude, there's never been an official ogame sim besides the internal one (from their side).
They're all 3rd party developed tools.
There's no "secret source code" of the sim, they're based on how the game works.
It's just a math formula.
On the other hand, if GF developers did make the internal sim for the game for v9, which is logical that they did, then why not expose the code so other sims can be adjusted.
It's just math as I said already.

3. Lack of combat simulator. It is an absolute shame that essential game function like this is not provided in-game and it relies on third-party developers who barely get any support. GameForge needs to implement a simulator in-game. Not next year, but yesterday.
I may be wrong, but this could get complicated :
I simulate for fun a fight with an absurd amount of ships, several times like Trash Sim does.
If the simulations are done server side, imagine the resources needed for that. Multiply by the number of player...
On the client side, the combat engine would have to be ported to another programming language and the source code would be exposed.
The simulation in trashsim is done client side using your PCs resources.
GF could do the same if they're afraid of the potential stress.

With this version several backend fixed will be applied and playing with multi-tabs won't be possible anymore.
Care to explain what this means? Prongs

Well, for starters, I'm still alive lol.
As for the update to V9, I've been thinking about this a lot lately.
I don't want to let the the community, of course, but it's not an easy process.
My current free time and resources are limited compared to 10 years ago, when I started building these tools.
More specifically I probably won't be able to develop anything until late august.
The few times that I actually had contact with GF, which was already very scares, was not really positive at the end, for example with the MCO update.
For which I created the following post: We're being left in the dark, a point of criticism, a complaint.
I've also spent hours and hours for my latest update to fix the bounce effect, without any help, feedback or appreciation from GF whatsoever.
So I hope that you can understand that my energy and enthusiasm to continue this project is not very high.
Just so you know, I'm not talking about the hard working community managers & admins ofc, they're awesome!
I've had positive contact with some of them lately, we'll see if it has a positive effect.
Last but not least, as I don't have much time, I won't be able to search for all the new formula's myself.
I'm talking about the different combinations of classes etc, for calculating flight time, fuel consumption, ...
If anyone has the time to create a full document that contains all the needed formula's, that'd make the life of a developer much easier and safe a lot of time.
It is a must before I'd even consider updating TrashSim, else it'd be an impossible task.
+ the API stuff NoMoreAngel is referring to is also crucial.
Grtz
Thank you.
I'm sure Prongs will sort this out so we will be prepared for v9 when it launches since it is the only relevant sim.

It happens often, aswell as sometimes you get ships you didn't want to send in that mission somehow.

Any updates on this?
Warsaalk ?

So, we had a nice discussion, a lot of you guys expressed your opinion.
Since this is a feedback subforum, and considering the upcoming v9, no feedback was read from this topic.
Thanks for the opinions.

Well, I'll drink to that.
Yay!

Umm, release candidate?
So the version is coming soon I guess?
