Currently in the game, temperature is only relevant for deuterium extraction (at current eco speeds, the difference in energy production by satellites is negligible; yeah, we have more cristal on 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions, but it's not enough). The second problem is that the current mining bonuses for the position in the system are extremely unbalanced (only two optimal positions are 8th and 15th, 8th are the biggest anyway, so the problem is getting worse). At the same time, the game's lore suggests (slightly) that, for example, the race of Rock'tals comes from “planetoids close to the sun”.
So, this is a suggestion: add to the game bonuses for specific races that are directly related to the temperature/position of the planet. For example:
1, 2, 3 – Rock'tals
4, 5, 6 – Kaleesh
7,8,9 – Humans
13, 14, 15 – Mechs
Bonuses are, of course, to be determined, but they should primarily be to make positions other than 8 and 15 in the layout equally attractive to colonize, and to encourage more experimentation with account configuration.
