I think it would be better if at the start of maintenance they land every fleet and VM everyone without getting cooldown to get out so people can rejoin at the time of their choosing. That way you'll be safe if timing doesn't fit you and those who can play will be able to play.
I just don't know how hard it is to land everyone fleet down, im guessing there should be some prompt for it but i can't be sure

Good suggestion but i'd add that there should be additional option in settings whether to do this or not, let player choose.

Crystal merchants is not the problem, it's a symptom of fundamental deeply rooted bad design choices. It's like if your arm was chopped of and you were bleeding out and you asking for ibuprofen and blood transfusion before addressing the cause.
Because of how screwed percentages are on 'Plasma Technology' and Slot 8 in system being most desirable whenever getting new planet (surprise surprise metal production bonus) + vast majority not relocating to different slots where there is crystal or deut bonuss afterwards because well it costs good chunk of DM. Arguable but i'd say lifeforms brings this multiplier issue even further.
Some might say 'but you spend more metal' yes... true but he difference is nowhere near to production multiplier differences. There is reason why people are metal packing and not crystal packing or deut packing and the reason is illusion of choice.
For reference, this is my 2nd account where i'm playing around with discoverer and strictly building and researching based on RoI (return of investment) times on slot 8.
The magical 3:2:1 rates are more like 7.4:1.1:1 for production and 8.8:3.8:1 for expos.
P.S. Pretty sure this is by design so you would be forced to exchange. -
Last time someone asked and event was 2-3 days after
You have to be at least as cool as me for that to happen

And what room for abuse do you see with this ?
Sure, first things first, let's clarify edge cases first.
And "Buy" -> "By" gotta typo there. If both accounts have 12 planets divide buy 2 and you keep half of the exodus planets .
-What if both accounts doesn't have same amount of planets?
Abuses by planning ahead:
- Pick Discoverer, get huge ass planets, develop only those planets, merge them in target on account that is ou hey lets say collector.
- Didn't quite your thought on research but same story, discoverer, -25% research time, collector on target, do research on food server, save months/years of time, merge into target.
- What prevents to repeat this every merge?
- "Divide by 2" have 12 planets on target and 12 planets on food server, 6 planets on target and 6 planets on food server are developed other 6 on both are garbage, merge, 12 developed planets because you can pick.
- Faster unis merged into slower unis abuse, again focus on half the planet count
-You keep all civil ships small cargo large cargo recyclers pathfinders probes. sats
all military and combat craft are converted to resources based on each total resource used for the combat fleet.
- Why keep civil ships and shit on fleeters again? Old/target servers already are dead as they are.
- Why 55% what is this magical number, there are servers with different debris ratios
---------------------------------------------------------------
Bottom line why award those who play multiple accounts over those who focus on 1?.
All this said, i'm not a fleeter and i'm playing on multiple servers and im against this kind of suggestion even more so because it has too many holes. -
There is too much potential for abuse and from development side of things i wouldn't want to be the poor soul who has to implement this.

Hyperspace tech and LF techs for specific warships also increase capacity.
Let's be real, folks, we're not playing the game of 20 years ago.
You are correct therefore use tools and technologies you were given to fix your capacity issues.

I'm ready to gift away all my useless garbage energy boosters.

EDIT: Also one of the "solutions" for a bit stronger def, and a bit weaker BC could be just replacing T3 slot 2 BC tech with OSR
No need to screw with BCs they are fine. Plasmas is only part of the answer if we talk deff, proper Ion cannon fodder shields will soak up that damage over rounds like nothing and just regen shields even more so with 'Obsidian Shield Reinforcement'. However when mass RIPs start flying at you there is not much you can do about that.

I would like to suggest to have Lifeforms also on moon for better results
Lifeforms ON moon or lifeforms FOR moon?
If ON then what happens when moon gets popped? -
Out of curiosity since i have 0% reductions. What % reduction do you have? Honestly from what i see having even 40% reduction all my research would still take above 8 weeks. And i will be honest here, anything above 8 weeks of research times is utter abomination in my opinion. All research should be capped at 8 weeks MAX... That is 2 months for gods sake!!!
I don't have any crazy reductions as i've had to swap all my LF techs & lifeforms. In general 32% reduction on LF techs from buildings, 16% from LF techs themselves and as for basic research also 16% across the board with exception of Spy Tech 71% and Plasma 64%. You're welcome to probe, i won't be mad :D.

Reminds me of StarCraft 2 times, professional players used to replace their nicknames with barcodes so when they were practicing new strategies on public games people wouldn't be able to tell who's strategy it is and wouldn't be able to prepare for specific opponents during tournaments.

Research Centre, Vortex Chamber, Robotics Research Centre, Rune Technologium try upgrading these, stop suggesting this game being mindlessly easy.
Dude are you serious? There is nothing hard about this game to begin with. Your argument is utterly useless. It's like making every research intentionally take ages and then putting a reduction building/tech because they had no idea what else to put there. Please... use your head.
Why would not IRN give reduction for LFs to begin with? If LF tech for research can give reduction for normal research then i don't see why IRN wouldn't do the same. No one said reductions need to be insane but small benefits are also appreciated, especially early on.
This idea has almost no impact past 5bil points anyway...
Contrary to popular belief of this being war game, this actually is time and resource management game - taking one of these variables out of equation makes game significantly easier. I disasgree that there is nothing hard about this game, LFs alone are misunderstood by vast majority of players. Average player probably doesn't even understand why before LFs Cruisers couldn't do shit to RIPs and why suddenly they can shred through them. Why cheaper HFs was a bad proposal etc.
Basic research times got fixed by introduction of LFs, LFs themselves have building if you want faster techs, invest in that building or you know DM.
