Look at the player numbers and tell me how you expect to win the 'vets' that have left close to a decade ago?

They probably don't think about this game anymore and moved on with their lives.

Two new generations were born during this time to, Gen Z, and Gen Alpha, they probably never heard of this game and if they have, they are clearly not interested in it.

oGame dug it's own grave once they introduced DM, thousands of players left overnight and what we once witnessed as thousands of players active IN A SINGLE SERVER, you can't even get 100 players on at the same time after a week of a new uni opening. I open .org and you have 10 servers combined that can't even reach 50 online players atm, how pathetic is that?

The game isn't 'dead dead' but it's pretty bloody dead in my honest opinion. It's a shell of what it once was. There's no going back to the glory days, Nada, Zilch... It's a sad state of affairs. I wouldn't mind this game going permanently offline either. Player interaction, big alliances, CR posts and rivalry, making trades with players, different types of alliances for fleets/miners.

The list goes on, there's none of that anymore.

Maverick F-14 How can you claim DM didn't at least MASSIVELY impact the player count??? Where you there when it happened back in the 2010's? It cut the playerbase in half overnight. and within a month it lost around 70% of the players.

I get the DM discussion to keep this game alive 100%. But they sacrificed greed for longevity. Clearly.

Player from the old 2010's checking on the current status of the game.

At this point each and every one of you are sheep. Complaining about merges in 2025 is a massive Oof.

What did you expect a decade onwards? That things will change?!??!?

We rarely have new players in OGame, someone who would just start learning how the game works.

What we do have are old players who sometimes come back and then stop playing.

There are also those who continue playing in multiple universes and abandon some accounts.

Coming from a player that played since 2005 and quit a few years back in early 2020, and lurk every year or so on the forums you are 100% right.

The game has fallen into the niche category, had a check on player numbers on Ogame.org. KEEP IN MIND : Remember when ONE universe had 1.000 players and sustained it for years? A shadow of its former self is an under-statement. I saw a few universes in the Greek/Greece region with ONE player online, the piss take there is insane... Greece has 11 universes with a grand total of 22 currently playing in them...

Why would I waste time in a dead universe? Or a new one that ONLY has 200 players and will die out in a months time? Even as a non-fleeter, that is plain fucking boring...

Is ACS even a thing anymore with those amount of players? Where's the planning and sense of community gone to? Oh right, it left with the train a decade ago xdddd.

    1. Old players MAY get the itch to come back and play, only to quit not even a month in when they realize just how braindead and boring this game has turned into.

    2. New players, well guess what? This game isn't being marketed ONE bit. So they never hear of it (The newer generation). If I was a new player, stumbled onto this game and saw 1-10 players playing in Universes that supported 1.000's I'm not bothering.

    3. Once again I see discussion of Dark Matter on some threads here. 10+ years guys, Pack it up, pack it the fuck up: There's stupid, then there's EXTREMELY STUPID. GameForge ain't going to change for you lil bro..

    4. Everyone that still plays just needs to quit and let this game ride off to the sunset, instead people are milking a cow that it's on its last breathe instead of taking out its misery...

Me. An decade ex-old player. Convince me to pick up the game again. You won't and you can't. Game turned from a FUN social game where you are always kept on your toes and strategic thinking no matter what playstyle you chose, with hundreds/thousands of players doing the same to LARPING pretending you are hunting players down when they are just bots...

OOHH and also Gameforge using AI for their games and still hard failing at that. Massive L to a once generational and GOAT'ed game.

ALWAYS hilarious a decade later where the same topic gets recycled and some of you dummies expecting a magical change (Dark matter).

Popped back in here after a few years to see how the game is going:

    1. Surprised it's still alive.

    2. Don't regret quitting the game one bit after a decade + of playing.

    3. Some of should quit and no one will care.

honestly, telling GF that you are going to quit because you don't like something really doesn't bother them.......10 other accounts are waiting to take your place....It may not seem like it but there always is....We're all replaceable, just like at our employers....Nothing but a number

You say that, yet this game is at its lowest that it has ever been. I mean have a look of all the universes and how ''active'' they are.

Gameforge don't care, not because there is others to replace you, its because they know the game is dying and simply don't care anymore and are willing to squeeze every bit of money they can get before shutting serves down permanently.

The talk of merging to new unis and starting from scratch is laughable and a spit to oGames core pillars which was longevity of playstyle/accounts. Of course that really didn't matter starting from a few years back when players would continually make new accounts in new unis for the rat race, but in turn it also killed the game fast when individuals like myself just had enough of starting over, even in those ridiculous x6 servers, it just doesn't feel as rewarding, nor does it feel good abondoning months/years of hard work in an account just to start from scratch...

oGame is almost dead, the forums are pretty inactive for what it once used to be, keep seeing the same users etc.

Server mergers took/takes to long to happen, and everyday more people are quitting then they are new ones, and making new ones commit to the game is a whole challenge in itself.

I always was with the idea that the game should stick to no more then 10 servers to keep population saturated instead you have 10+ servers with less then 20 players online in each, its pathetic really...

GF should pull the plug already on this game.

I commited to this game after making my post for about a week, but now im just bored.

Expos and leveling up solo with mines and colonies is fun for a while, but the clear lack of community in majority of universes is making the game super dry where im just going to quit once again probably tonight.

Might put my account in v-mode or just go in-active depending on my mood.

This isn't even an argument about Dark Matter either, theres just simply no players to play with, and the ones that are active seem to hop on to new universes a few times each year which im not the biggest fan in restarting from scratch to be perfeclty honest.

Never liked that playstyle. And the ones that stay from what ive seen, don't have that fire/spark anymore to play and communicate with the players that stayed anymore. Simply because the competition has quite literally quit/left the universe and/or game.

Oh well, its sad to see a great game slowly painfully dying, simply because lack of playerbase first and foremost over the other issues such as DM debates and bugs. etc. is all worthless if the game can't at least keep a healthy playerbase.

I personally never had trouble not paying a dime against players that do in game. I still had my own fun and sucesses regardless..

I mean just look at the active/online players in some universes here, its appaling, its literally a player vs AI at this point and very very little PvP , unless you don't mind farming inactives, but at that point you could consider that Player vs AI lol.

I think its just time to move on, I don't see how anyone has the commitment to play this dead game anymore even if its to break personal mining/research/defence levels.

    tl;dr

Theres really no incentive to get current/old/new players to pick up the game with false promises and unis that have dead player bases weeks in, and merges that take to long to mitigate that...

The only ones enjoying are the ones that don't mind starting over after each uni release and spending cash, either that or players that are midly autistic (No offense) and don't mind playing repetitiveness day in and day out in their own field...

I made an account just to see, new classes looks dope, but just looking at the overall activity in the uni, yeah I think im not coming back as sad to say.

Good luck to others out there though!

For some reason after 5 years later I have an itch to pick this game back up, upon looking around I see that the player base is no where as populated as it used to be.

Is there any reason to come back if your not a junky in creating new accounts each time a new server opens every so months?

I used to love having long friendship/community in unis where it would last for a year+ now im seeing those exact unis with less then 20 players active.

Matter of fact, theres realistically only ONE uni which is ''populated'' that being Volans.

So all that being said, is this game just on its last dying breathe?

I looked on this forum quickly and I see that theres still a problem dealin with bugs, and another post that stated this game is pretty much ''dead'' all together.

I am not blind to see that this game is no longer big as it used to be. But is there really no iniative for players that want to stick out in a uni for extended periods of time without having to give up/move to a new uni to keep up with active player demands? :S

As much as I love the grind and being patient, I just can't tolerate being the only player in an uni.
