As with all big hits, this took a bit of improvisation, a small amount of preparedness, and a mountain of luck.
Yesterday, I got a cold DM from Rain telling me that Ares's full fleet was sitting in G6. Rain had spotted Ares's fleet sitting hours before and had been futilely trying to contact Zero Two (whose participation was required to have any chance of crashing Ares) and had even crashed one of Ares's deut fleets while waiting. As Ares is normally off during that time, I decided to go for it, and sent out a mobile 1 system away.
Eventually, we managed to contact Zero Two, whose fleet was still a full hour out, and who needed to launch from 50 ss away from a moon with no deut. Thankfully, the first problem solved the latter, as I had time to ship over 50b deut from my duals in G3 to his G6 moon (using my slow Large Cargos, no less). A bit later, my mobile landed, I got a moon, insta'ed jumpgate and moved fleet, and then realized there was still 25 minutes before Zero Two's fleet landed. I occupied myself by first failing to locate Ares's mobile, and then stress clicking more Solar Plant and Space Dock on my own mobile to get 0.4% extra wreck field from Space Dock 5.
Finally, Zero Two's fleet landed, he jumped, and off we went, hoping that Ares was not secretly trying to trap us with mirror fleet using Worldeater (as I failed to locate either his mobile or Worldeater's fleet). After an uneventful 10 minute flight, our fleet connected. It took 8.5 minutes for the CR to finally generate, but boy, was it a thing of beauty.
I wish Ares a fast rebuild, which seems likely given how quickly he made this fleet.
I'd like to dedicate this hit to all my friends and traders; the game just wouldn't be the same without you. And of course to Rain for spotting Ares's fleet, I hope you enjoy your cut.

You've also been General the whole time, and have lifeform techs oriented toward combat ships. Not to mention that there was 3T res that was on Tizoc's moon, but then somehow made its way to your moon, last weekend, right before the pulling ban came into play. It's obvious to everyone that your growth is 100% from Tizoc pulls, and I wouldn't go around making passive aggressive accusations. Or, as you eloquently put it, "way to put yourself on the plank too
