After watching for a few nights I knew he did Deployment fleet saves between 2 of his moons so I launched some rips and tried to take a guess at 1 of them... 10 mins out I noticed activity at another of the moons so sent some probes and there was the fleet... Recalled the RIPS and launched the fleet and defender was late back to his fleet save.
Defender went V mode shortly after the attack landed.
Good luck with RL Wind and if you do come back GLOTR :).
