Unless the scrapping has to be done quickly, there is always the option of using the scrap merchant, which does not cost anything.

Nice find and profits German Giant.
I hope you enjoyed the party John, and I know how it feels to get caught in a fast uni. You can turn around to blow your nose and you find yourself hit!
(yes, I know I am exaggerating
)

I know it's a big part of the game, but I never like seeing anyone getting hit. Maybe part of that is that I know what it is like. Having said that, it was a nice find and lovely looking profits.
I do hope you rebuild Retaliator, and that you enjoy your summer whether you do rebuild, or decide you've had enough, and decide not to.

EDIT: sorry.
Personally i would prefer to review some LF tech. If you want to improve ships finding why don't use tech LF for example changing one tech in order to add a second one for ships (but again i would prefer resources).
But that is the point. I am a miner, so I would also prefer to find resources, but occasionally, I would like to find ships. I do not need a long lasting tech to do this, just a little boost every so often. My expeditions find things at random, and that's fine, but occasionally, I want a specific thing more than the others, and game wise, it could be a special sensor that locates the things that you are looking for, so you have a better chance of finding that particular thing.

Hi, despite i'm a discoverer i think we can't proceed in this way.
Right now the discoverer class is op...I wouldn't add any advantages to this class.
Now we already have T4 to boost the ships findings.....in addition with the resources you can build ships
This is not a permanent boost, just for the duration of 7 days, and not everyone is Discoverer class, so being able to get a boost that simply tips the balance in favour of finding a particular type of thing, ships, resources or items might be useful. I think that it should be that you can do several expeditions and get all the usual things, but if you use, for example, a ship finding booster, then there is more chance that you will find ships each time you do an expedition.

I should have known something was afoot when I got what, to me, was a very random probe at about the time you were probably about to launch at/already had launched your attack.
Nice find, and enjoy the profits.
Wish you a speedy rebuild Drunky.

I was doing a bit of rebuilding of fleet recently, and have been doing more expeditions in order to try to get more ships, and after plenty of times trying, I got more resources than ships, so my thought was that we could buy boosters that would increase the chance of getting a particular type of thing, for example, one type of booster would help find more resources but less of the other types of things, and another would find more ships, and another would help find more items. Nothing for DM of course, and it each booster would only increase the chance of getting more of something, but not the amount we get.
I am expecting that people might think this a silly idea, but anyway, there it is.

I wonder if the game is struggling to cope with the huge numbers that it has to deal with these days.
It probably does not have the same 'lag' when a person forgets they have a nice amount of resources left on a lightly defended moon...
Nice find and profits.

Good day, Vega. I'll just leave it like this.
Today's lesson: don't trust anyone. I learned that the hard way.
IngloriousBastard had already built a reputation as a very dirty player, and here you have it. I thought, "Okay, that thing with DOOM was legit, a revenge hit, bla bla." But no, he's just like that—a shady, dirty player with no empathy.
We talked for a few days about hitting MuadDib, and I must say, his acting was very convincing. I was wondering why he is insisting on a bait tactic but ok i thought its the easy way then MD him. Today, we wanted to try it by baiting MuadDib, and everything went
so smoothly (what a surprise). MuadDib spied on one planet after another, found my fleet sitting, and then launched. Inglorious and I were on Discord, talking the whole time. Funny. After the hit, he wrote to me, "This is Vega; you don't trust anyone." Yep, he was right.
In the end, I'm not mad at anyone—it was entirely my fault. I'm just disappointed in the kind of person Inglorious is. So, be aware of him. Maybe he should change his nick to MightyRecaller2
Also, I feel like this is a good time to leave this game. Enough is enough. I made a lot of friends, including many in real life, but I also met dirty and sad players like Inglorious.
P.S. I will probably give away my account, so if anyone is interested, PM me, and I will decide.
This is all so very sad. There are people here that you can trust, but clearly any trust given should be with one eye on the fact that it's likely you are about to be deceived, since it is a game. I would like to believe that a player who plays with nasty, dirty tricks, does so only because it's a game, but since it seems to come so easily to some people, then I suspect they might be happy to be that way in real life.
As for this hit, enjoy the profits MuadDib.

Maybe also look at options that benefit other playstyles too, like a higher peaceful fleet speed for example. Miners/discoverers don't care about DF % which is why these votes usually fail in other uni's too.
Sorry, but that is not entirely true. I am a miner who hardly even raids inactives (except in Volans uni), but I will always vote for things that benefit fleeters, if it seems the right choice for the uni. Without fleeters, there would be no OGame, so to block every move that benefits them would drive them all away, and then we'd be left with nothing but miners.

I think most players, including top players, would appreciate seeing a "Purchased DM" column on the ranking page.
Pre metal packs you could assess skill via rankings page rank and military destroyed. Now we all know it is a purchased position.
Make it easier to assess what is bought vs what is skill. Show us cumulative DM purchase metrics per player.
if they are on top they have spent more than you would think it's appropriate to spend in a shitty online game, that's basically it, no need to change the ranking page.
also, I strongly disagree that "pre metal packs" the situation was better, it was just a different kind of the same nonsense, imo.
I've said this for a very long time. I am quite happy to not be top ranked, but I know that my rank actually no longer means anything at all, especially with merges where younger unis join mine, or where I join older ones, however I would like to know how my progress is compared to people whose accounts are of a similar age, but more importantly, those who use dark matter, those who use a lot of dark matter and those who use none at all. A ranking system that showed this would be wonderful, but I have to be realistic here, it's never going to happen.

Having huge players affects the game in a very negative way. I remember a time, before the merge, when you rarely seemed to be in v-mode, but now you and Skeleton, and other previously 'big fish' spend more time blue than playing the game it seems. The knock on effect is that you have big whales killing off or 'scaring' off all the mid range to large fleeters and leaving a universe full of giant whales and miners, which is no fun for anyone.
Grumble over
Nice profits Confederation, and in spite of the fact you are a little bit pesky with how close you are to me and your probes, I hope you get to play again soon.
Fast rebuild Ripper.

I feel like fast MDs are fine, as long as players can get even one 6-8 hour period every 24 hours during which they can't be MD'ed on one moon.
Not sure how this would be implemented with all the different time zones and how would the moon that cannot be MD'd be chosen. I think it seems that it might give an unfair advantage to the miner/turtle who could select the moon to do a lazy fleet save and a fleeter would be unable to do anything about it.
I remember, though, a time when a MD was often too risky for a fleeter to do on a whim, yet in recent times, I have quite often woken up to 2 or 3 moons gone because someone has probed, seen fleet, and assumed my fleet would still be there, but the attacker sent 500 RiPs. How can any smaller/medium player hope to defend against that many RiPs, and if he had reason to be annoyed with me, he could kill all my moons just for the fun of it. Minimal risk for him in the end, and that tips the balance of the game too far in favour of the 'whales' of the game. Unless, of course, he did actually risk losing 500 RiPs in those MDs

Ignoring whether this idea is good or bad and looking at it in practical terms, if people were made to v-mode for a whole week after what might have been a genuine reason would be frustrating and would lead to people leaving the game entirely. This is a game, and a very time hungry game at times, and the person who maybe pops out of v-mode to play for a day because he or she happens to have nothing much happening, but then are back to a busy life the next day, meaning they feel v-moding is the best option, should not be penalised. I totally understand the frustration of the person who probes or attacks a bunch of players then v-modes before anyone has time to attack them, but v-mode is there for when a player cannot play or just needs a rest, so a 48 hour v-mode is long enough.
