gatecrusher, your really over thinking it.

If your never on the negative side anyways you got nothing to worry about.

This uni fleeters have been wanting a change for a while. 50% debri will barely affect miners, if anything it will help with more trades.

Well I might consider voting for something , if it's tied to something else so everyone gains something and not just one specific playing style.

Also the 70% seems harsh to have something changed, why not tie it to how long you have been in ogame (I think the staff can see when your account got created?) and multiply your vote by that. Might be more fair and give a completely different outcome? Any thoughts on this?

Well not going to keep quoting:

Supernoob , the fields are no issue, also not the main point of my post. The world changes, games change, gameplay changes, ... adapt overcome and continue

sure I'll build defense , then you guys hold a vote for Defense into DF because turns out uni1 is still dead. So what's the point? Give you an hour of fun (I have better ideas for an hour of fun)?

Empty my planets more? Want my account? 2.5 billion points, 1.7 billion in economy alone. Ever managed something like that and it's even peanuts compared to the ones above me? If needed and I have time I'll even clean them out every hour.

Just saying sometimes a small change has a big impact on a certain players base and not everyone has the time.

The King of Kings, it could change someone into a target 20% (for me profit is profit, don't care about 1 unit profit or 1kkk units profit). So 20% change might push you into a plus for someone who thinks the same.

Fleeters also got the benefits of lifeforms, might not be mining wise but ships wise. Just look at the hits posted and compare them with before lifeforms got introduced and you'll see what boost you got with those (even profit wise as you'll lose less ships because of the bonuses and you gained wreck fields). So let's go back a few years and compare it to now, you got a big boost in DF gained from successfully attacking someone.

And still the active user base is declining (beside a spike in users if something does get changed of the settings) to then decline steady again. So honestly I think both miners/fleeters/ accounts in between gained a lot over the last few years and that it is pretty balanced and gives you a lot of choices to choose a path that suits your needs.

Half true. Rarely been on the wrong side so indeed make it even 100% into DF won't affect me much.

But it does make a difference into my "fleeter" mindset I had for years. It used to be just "numbers", so build 1trillion probes and you scared people off as long as they didn't see it on the ground as they thought hmm that's one hell of fleet better not mess with it and be very careful as you don't know what it is. Now it's points wise (and numbers as how many ships you have are less relevant).

So to keep it simple as a comparison (Not looking at RF, LF techs etc etc), I have build a nice set of 1K dessies, looking at a target (purely intel wise of what I can roughly guess based on the points and ship amounts that everyone can publicly see). Hmm I guess he has 200 RIPs , never mind not worth my time/effort to go after it and to even study online times/point gained at what time through 3rd party tools (to guess online times better) and go on. Changing the DF % might make it all of a sudden relevant and worth my time... So comes back down to my point, someone somewhere decided with the gameplay in place at that time what his optimal build/queue is to reach their goals.

So yes the DF % does affect me, fleet on the ground or not. Tools enough and simple probes to accurately estimate what I might be carrying or have flying around. And something simple as a DF% change might have me logging in with 16 moons popped and seeing a nice red line behind my returning fleet sooner or later as it will be visible somewhere (as there is no fleetsave that guarantees me I'll keep my fleet/resources 100% safe).

Voted for 30% and will keep on doing so. Been playing since 2005 on the same account. Choose a specific Universe with specific settings. Forced several times to merge and had to see which uni then matched with how I want to play this game. Finally ended up in Uni 1. As a miner myself I even vote against eco increases. Ogame is a strategic game, you plan ahead of how to reach the top. If you keep on changing settings how am I supposed to plan ahead long term. I've had to change my account layout so many times already with every change/implementation/redesign even as a miner, I need more fields, I need to have more defense to keep myself non profitable, I have to move my res around more since the economy doubles, I need to up my storages, ... .

I'm not really a pay2win user and from being in the top before all merging I just keep on swimming around spot 80 in the rankings for years now and see people passing me with less eco power, less lifeform techs, less ... Kinda takes the fun out and that's one of the reasons why people leave and stop caring I think.

Been a fleeter myself before throwing around the account years ago to be more suitable for a mining strategy, so I get where it's coming from. But if you increase the DF , you'll make people who are now not profitable maybe profitable (so again you have to change your strategy to not be profitable) so you might force those people out also as they will be swarmed over by everyone slightly active as a fleeter to try to grab it before someone else does. Let's vote for defense into DF then : Then I can just perm v-mode together with the rest and just delete my account, everything is profitable then.

Fleeter or not, eventually you run out of targets (people quit, perm v-mode, tired of getting bashed, tired of the game play changing , tired of it not changing). Then let's say the vote passes, fleeters/raiders go berserk as targets increases until the vicious circle reached the same point again, the extra targets that are created by the change have learned, left , ... .

So in short: no , any change to the settings will get my vote against it, it's all a short term solution which doesn't solve the initial problem of why people get tired of Ogame.
