Let me start by saying no gauss cannons were used in this hit xD
There is a long history between Senator and I...it all started early in the uni, he had a massive fleet and he was owning as a fleeter, hit me and my allymate a couple of times and got our full fleets until this happened:

After the previous hit happened, a new crap storm unveiled and his little goons started chasing me and IPMing me and trying to MD me for weeks, bad rep, DM abuser, etc...22 years of ogame and eventually the one thing associated with my name was the gauss cannon ninja 
So i wanted revenge, to get the remaining fleet, without ninja or any DM tactics, and so began a long long period of watching Senator. I couldnt take him myself so i always had a backup on standy, the sexy beast who is slaughtering the uni The_Butcher .
We tried a couple of weeks ago, watched him all day, mobiled in and went for it, but he came online maybe 3 minutes before the hit and moved the fleet.
A week later, the SNG guys tried to MD him and get the fleet but that was not successful as well, not sure about the details but he survived.
Fast forward to today, Butcher was watching him and he messaged me and told me the Senator was idling and that his fleet is sitting. We sent mobiles, recalled once he had some activity not to spook him, and then sent again 
Everything happened so quick, moon was there on the 2nd attempt, fleet and res deployed in 6 mins, and the rest was history.
Gotta say it wasnt quite the cat and mouse game after Senator lost his main fleet in the 1st hit, he lost motivation, he was the most active fleeter in the uni then he just started doing expos, but i can finally that we got him.
